I was adding to your point.

The general public seem to be scathing of 'junkies' until it's their favourite TV presenter and they're then willing to see it as a blip in their life and want them to get the support they need.

Not sure why you're being so obtuse today - seriously, take a look back.

My bad mate I've not had tobacco all day.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ouch.

No worries... new year's resolution?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Trying, I'll have one this evening but none in work, and I love a smoke break in work!

Very true. He pretty much got a free pass where Pete Doherty has been vilified for years. That said I did meet Pete Doherty not long ago and what a fecking wally he is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Similar to footballers.

Gazza, remembered for being a joker and a bit of a lad, gets sympathy for his alcoholism and his domestic issues go forgotten.

Just imagine for a minute, ex forces guy on the streets who keeps returning to alcohol and was accused of domestic violence.

Apologies for the insult.

I think all drugs should be decriminalised. I really dont see the problem.

Unless you start banning being fat and stuff too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think if cocaine was legalised towns and cities would be absolute bedlam at the weekends, I mean I do it myself but honestly don't think it should be.

I'm well up for injection centres though, think they are the first step towards someone kicking their habit, a safe environment where you're not judged and so offered support, information and are treated like a human.

Don't be worrying mate Im a bit snappy today!

Hopefully I'll kick them been smoking for way too long, if I even get to just having the odd one with a drink that would be a massive improvement.

I wake up at night all the time and smoke, madness really.

It's everywhere anyway mate lets face it and most of it is shiiiiiit. Loads of that "magic" fake coke doing the rounds as well.

Tbh coke is only worth washing out these days, I find the usual all a bit boring.

I'm not talking about legalising it though, just decriminalising it ala Portugal.

“ I think if cocaine was legalised towns and cities would be absolute bedlam at the weekends, I mean I do it myself but honestly don't think it should be.”

I think the main implication of making that legal though would be the effect of taking it out of the hands of the cartels where it comes from. And the kids knifing each other over it over here.

It’s a tricky one because it does put people from zero to be11end in a matter of minutes, but looking at the bigger picture...

Definitely a much more finely balanced one than legalising cannabis though

posted on 6/1/20

Again I'm not saying make it legal, that would be amazing.

I just don't see the point of criminalising someone for at least 7 years for recreational usage.

So they have sniffer dogs in Nottingham now. My mate had zoot in his pocket, dog was on it, searched him and had about 0.3g of sniff on him.

Nicked. He's a good citizen but now cannot work in his field of choice. It's bollox.

Never really smoked, so I can't really empathise - don't feel qualified enough to comment on the decriminalisation issue as well.

Tricky. I guess there are pros and cons - it'll never be perfect either way.

Yeah with you there. They’ve started that up in Sheffield city centre where I used to work and you see them posting after every weekend

7x arrests possession cocaine
4x possession cannabis

Complete waste of time. And as you say criminalising someone for possession, the punishment and repercussions are excessive in relation to the ‘crime’

They need to bin off possession completely and go after the ones selling it if they want to crack down. Easy too, look at the ones who work at Asda but their mrs is posting pictures of Valentino handbags on Christmas Day 🤷‍♂️

On top of the reasons put forward for legalising it, here in Northern Ireland there is a very strong reason. Terrorists sell it but beat, shoot and kill others if they are caught selling it. They put out an anti-drug message but sell it themselves. This would hit their pockets and they might actually have to get a job.

I only smoke every so often, when I'm feeling stressed and it has a great effect on me, for that. Also, and some people find this strange, I only smoke it when I'm having a few beers. I never do it on its own as I find it just makes me lazy, don't want to move, don't want to talk, don't even want anybody looking at me. Throughout my teen years I thought I was weird, as I didn't talk to people, until I stopped smoking it at 19. Then I only was slightly weird.

However it has different effects on people and as you get older you learn how to control it, rather than blast as much into you as you can, which I believe is in part due to it being illegal and therefore when you have the opportunity you do as much as you can.

It should definitely be made legal.

I've greatly reduced the weed in the past year, I was getting really anxious when smoking it and was smoking all the time, if I'd anything remotely on my mind I'd be winding myself up really badly once I smoked.

Good point robbing re coke and the quality we see here and in the UK, it's cut to bits.

I got stuff in Copenhagen before and it was very pure, was absolute mad stuff we were going for two days!

It's that bad here that people are going to sleep the same night they're on it. In my day you'd have been up for days and you couldn't even try to sleep. The next few days were absolute hell though.

That’s the thing. My mum is northern Irish and was there for the troubles. She always maintains the terrorists in Ireland were in it for the crime and gangster look a lot more than the political side of things. Terrible really.

Also it costs a fortune when you're out as you can drink as much as you like without being drunk.

Of course. The political side died out in the 90s. They used to sell drugs to fund weapons etc. Now they sell them to fund their lifestyles. I know a guy with a couple of mansions in Spain. He's never worked a day in his life.

That’s an argument for it though to be fair, people tend to be more of a fecking nightmare when they are purely pizzed.
