Thought he was your best player second half. Won the ball back well and drove at us, putting us on the back foot.

Guen was a big part of us dominating that second half

Needed direction was all over the place 1st half. To his credit he came out 2nd half brilliantly. Criticism when it’s deserved and praise to. We were dreadful first half.

It seems to be the people that defend xhaka on here that single out guendouzi for criticism

Let’s not kid ourselves, he has been poor in recent games. I thought both him and Xhaka had horrendous first halves tonight m. Fair play though, he stepped it up in the second half and played very well.

Almost everybody except Martinez had a horrendous first half. Guendouzi was one of our best players in the second half.

Same.

I don't single guendouzi out when criticising though. The whole midfield was bad.

He was good second half and poor first half I am still waiting for a 96 min performance from him

Yeh but our centre mid were particularly bad in the first half, Leeds were cutting through us. I agree tho it wasn’t just him , Xhaka was pathetic. Holding very rusty. Fair criticism at half time, ultimate praise for showing character.

Very smart midfielder buying free kicks, cynical behaviour interrupting their rhytmn. Really great game. Isn't it crazy how much better our players look with a structure and organisation. I actually love Arteta

Great prospect and from what I have seen one of the few players who gives it his all every game. Just watch him play and you can see how good he could be with the right coaching and system. I expect a lot in the coming years but he is a little green, so I’m more readily willing to cut him slack than I am players like Xhaka and co.

Our whole midfield played like the Emery team. Gwendouzi is the topic here and he was absolute awful first half. Running around like a headless chicken, played backwards and sidewards passes that seldom came to an Arsenal player, not won any duels.

Improved second half dramatically and helped us to win this. Think our whole midfield stepped up. We put more fighting in it and controlled them.

He was very good second half but had no positional sence in the first half. If that was a better team we would have been 2 down by the first half.

Against top level prem opposition he isn't ready to be starting for us.

Xhaka was equally as bad first half

Xhaka and Guendozi are both liabilities and ought to be sold at the end of the season.

We definitely need a new midfielder

I wouldnt play Xhaka and Gwendouzi together again.

Don't agree with most of the comments here tonight. Personally I thought he gave the ball away far too often and turned into danger time after time. Numerous times he simply didn't put enough on his passes to get them to where they needed to be.

I'm a huge fan of Guen and constantly sing his praises (away from JA), I hope he'll be a great player for us in the future. He needs to learn a hell of a lot to the tactical side of his game though and is still incredibly raw. He's probably had a lot more game time than expected, partly due to the huge potential he has shown but mainly due to the shower of shét our midfield has been.

I'm hoping Arteta cuts back on his game time a little bit and so far that looks to be the plan.

Gwen is still very young and has not had the benefit of good coaching for the last two years. Now that Arteta is in charge Im confident that we will see him improve significantly.

It's Ozil's defenders always slating Gwen. Not surprising as any player that energetic behind Ozil, immediately shines a light on Ozil failing to get stuck in. Which is what happened in the first half. Jogged around loads yes, but failed to actually pressurise anyone.

Second half he played properly. In chasing the ball with heart, he got on it more. He also bought Xhaka and Gwen the time the needed to sort themselves out, kinda, against the break. Whilst working harder to offer himself as an attacking option. Not having a go at him re effort, here because he did looked spent when he came off. Just pointing out the big difference not being mentioned, his pressing and how critical it is to the team's play. First half pressing was crap as not done properly. Second, was done right and we started winning the ball. As said before, pressing starts with Ozil. If he doesn't do it, we struggle. Now way around this with current players, Ozil MUST play like Man U game for us to dominate the ball. It's no coincidence that we've immediately began to look better, with Arteta forcing him to work at pressing too.

Never get why one decent performance (or half of one in this case) erases a poor season of so from a player. Not necessarily arsenal or guendozi but articles like this make me laugh.

Player scores 10 own goals on the trot
Scores a goal in game 11

He's been quite inconsistent of late and he seems to have a habit of being at the centre of a really poor first half performance, only to be the one to rally the troops in the second half.

I guess he has a huge influence on the team, which is quite something for someone his age.

I like him a lot and hope we can develop him into the player that is clearly there, I just don't want to see us put too much on his shoulders too soon. He should be 3rd/4th choice for a bit really.

In case you weren’t watching DJ it was very much a game of 2 halves for us. Guen was shocking in the first half but much better in the 2nd. Having said that neither he nor Willock should be starting any big games. Neither can play consistently well for 90 mins. It’s also clear that Ozil can’t play 2 games in a week.
