French U20 International Enzo Loiodice looks set to join us on initial loan with option to buy.

My French is pretty good but Ive no idea how you pronounce Loiodice.

Another one "for the future", but has played a few first team games for Dijon. Cue, mustard puns....

Loy-o-deece? That’s my guess anyway. The guy is hot as mustard anyway

Never understood why I am allergic to English mustard but not French. Don’t know what the different ingredients are

Some of these "ones for the future" may well feature in the senior squad before the end of the season. It's not as though we haven't had any 18/19 year-old players before is it?
MGW, Vinagre, Giles, Ashley-Seal, Otasowie, Buur, etc, etc.

No doubt the u21 squad has a lot more quality in it these days as we seem determined to snap up some of the better young talent around. A few years from now we should really start to see the benefits though we are already seeing glimpses

C'est vrai Monsieur Gem.

Apparantly Guo made a speech at the Davos forum last week saying that you build a successful football team by investing in young talent. All the same I think we could do with some balance, we brought in experience last season but another one or two in the Jimenez category wouldn't go amiss.

It's also the clubs policy to bring in young players, develop them and then maybe sell the on for a profit

I think there is a bit of that wolfie, the have been a small number of youngsters that have come in and I've wondered about the strategy. However you could bring in some kid for nowt or a nominal fee, give him 20 here or there in the league cup or Europa and sell him for a million to a league one club these days. Nice profit.

Don't think that's necessarily the main strategy though.

And when are we ever going to get rid of Jordan Graham?

Chelsea had their hand forced this season by the transfer ban but the young team has done better than most including me expected. A young Arsenal team impressed at Bournemouth tonight. Developing your own stars can save a fortune and the loan system and even transfers of players that don't make the grade can all help with the cost of the academy.

But it is frustrating that our owners who came claiming money is no object, are not spending much at all by modern transfer standards. And what we have spent in the last year has mostly been funded by the sale of the likes of Costa, Cavaleiro and Cutrone

I believe Cutrone costed us around 23 m so selling him for something similar is not really finding anything
A mystery why he did not play more

More like a tragedy.

He didn't get a chance.

Jota 20 games 3 goals.

Says it all really.

I think he was good enough. Just struggled to settle.

It happens. Just need to move on.

Possibly didnt give himself a chance, you get the impression that he felt that he needed to be playing more having moved from his home town club. If he'd given himself more of a chance to settle (and made more of the chances he was given) he may have ended up playing more in the run in and with a pre season under his belt may have really contributed next season. He looked like he had the ability to develop in to a decent player but he didnt show enough over the first half of the season to suggest he could challenge Jimenez for starts, even when he was knackered.

There’s a possibility Cutrone could turn into a good old fashioned goal hanging centre forward. But his all round game just wasn’t good enough for where we are now. He would never replace Jimenez, and never looked suited to playing the support forward alongside him. So unless he was going to be content with sub appearances and some cup games he wasn’t going to be content. And he wanted to play more.

The pity is that if Jimenez was tempted away by a big offer from a top club, we may well have called on Cutrone and in some respects he would have probably done ok

“I went to Wolverhampton with a lot of enthusiasm. The fans loved me, they dedicated a chant to me. In the end, I scored three goals from few minutes played, but I found a manager who preferred to rely on his loyalists”.

Interesting few days ahead, players clearly needed but more importantly Nuno has been saying for a couple of months that we need players in. Thus far yet again we are lighter now than we were at the start of a transfer window. Wonder how long Nuno will remain locked in if this is the way our windows are destined to go.

I agree that JImmy was always going to be the first choice, but if he were to get injured what have we got to play that role.
Still as they say, it is what is is.

Wolves still expecting to sign Podence this week but have so far been unable to agree a price for Oliveira. They are already in talks with a different striker but are keeping quiet on that one to avoid stoking interest from other clubs.

Jordan Graham evidently on the point of joining Gillingham
