Had an injury combined with a manager who takes a while to introduce new players, and then a new manager who doesn't believe midfielders can be under 6ft

No pre season then got injured on international duty. Finally got fit had back to back starts and then poch got sacked.

Jose then went with the tried and tested.

Good player from what you've seen?
I once had a chat with you guys about lucas saying he should get more time but was shot down by a few of your board.

I like Lucas but he’s a individualist in a team game, meaning he just doesn’t link up well.

All his best moments are mainly stuff he does alone, mazy runs or instinctive shots.

I guess thats similar to son in a way and can understand with that reasoning why both dont start together all that often.

Its funny when those 6ft plus midfielders are practically invisible.

Daft thing is, when Mourinho was at his best (which, let's not forget, was almost 15 years ago) he was a strict adherent to the 433. Remember that Chelsea team:

Cech

Ferreira - Carvalho - Terry - Cole

Essien - Makelele - Lampard

Robben - Drogba - Duff

Maybe one or two players wrong (I have a feeling Duff wasn't there when Cole was), but the midfield 3 were there for a while. Makelele was the destroyer, Essien the box-to-box engine room and Lampard the attacking goalscorer/creator.

Ndombele fits the Essien mould and Lo Celso the Lampard one - the only question mark is who who fit the Makelele role out of Winks, Dier or Sissoko. Arguably none of them.

I guess he's prioritising putting Alli in his preferred position though, and Alli doesn't really fit in a deeper midfield role.

Tbf all three of those players youve listed are better than all of your options. We also had players like ballack. Slightly tough to compare.

Yes, unquestionably - but then, that Chelsea team won the league, whereas no-one expects this Spurs team to get anywhere near that

true. I just feel now after the neglect of the squad over the last few years you need an overhaul. I would seriously try cashing in on dier, sissoko, rose and a few others. If you go on a bad run over xmas and top 4 is out the question i'd just start playing younger and new players?

It's the two consecutive windows with no new players, coming back to haunt Spurs. Huge overhaul needed now, no question.

Aurier, Walker-Peters, Vertonghen, Rose, Dier, Eriksen, Lamela all need moving on as a priority. Arguably Lloris, Sanchez and even Alli too since they've all been poor for a relatively extended period and Alli would fetch far more than his performances would merit.

And there's no young players who look good enough to step straight in and take any of their places, so that's as many as 10 players out who would all need replacing in one form or another. Spread out over a longer period including those two barren windows, and the rebuild would've been doable. Now the club is so far behind that it's hard to know where to start.

But of the current "defensive 6" (i.e. keeper, back 4 and deepest midfielder), only one should still be at the club - and even Alderweireld is showing signs of regression. The club is in an absolute state.

OP

Winks simply is not good enough to start, and Ndombele is always injured. I am willing to give it a go though, if neither are injured.

None of our young players though are any good. Sessignon looks about the best. Nothing really coming through from the ranks. Skipp looks to lightweight, KWP is no longer that young. That`s about it. The young central half may be OK, his name I cannot remember just now. Troy Parrott as well could end up being the real deal, probably need to give him a few sub appearances when games are sewn up. Problem is every game Spurs seem to be involved in goes right down to the wire.

I was thinking more that sessegnon, winks, KWP, add in ndombele to start more, lo celso, lucas...even if it doesnt work out, the game time will add value to the younger players and give experience to the newbies in the league.

There is no point retrying players like dier, sissoko, eriksen(who is leaving) and even your older cbs, if you are missing top 4. Might aswell try cash in and rebuild. Hope you keep onto kane, son and a few others.

You would hope so OP, but Jose is a dinosaur. We will probably resort back to Dier, and aimlessly hoof the ball up to Son/Moura

This is exactly why I hoped for Allegri. At least some new ideas. Most prem managers have seen all of Jose's tactics and teams.

I would like to see more of Lille staff having an influence on our play. All seems like a hint of Jol and Santini. Sacramento might be Levy's next appointment if Jose leaves.

Jose is not a dinosaur. Spurs have created and scored lots of goals since he arrived. After the dross of the previous managers last nine months, the stuff on show now is absolutely brilliant.
