How are they guilty pleasures? You are just naming songs everyone likes.

I remember one year I went to see System of a down live (another great band) and Dillinger Escape plan supported them. Hated them but a few years later I started liking them and wished I’d appreciated them more - still haven’t seen them since
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They were a phenomenal band, if admittedly an acquired taste! I was lucky enough to tour with them for a bit many moons ago (actually probably not too long after you saw them by the sounds of it) and watching the musicianship from the side of the stage was astounding.

Legend! I saw them in 2002. Then Miss Machine came out and I was addicted. As you say, they’re an acquired taste. Tried so many times to get GFs into them but 10 seconds of Panasonic Youth ruins it 😂

Genius band. If you can persevere it’s levels above most music

What kind of music were you guys playing Philspurs?

The most talented guys I ever shared a stage with were Ephel Duath.

Absolutely ridiculous musicianship, and their new session drummer was reading sheet music, which was just nonsense

Abba is not supposed to be "cool", but I love many of their songs.
Was also a fan of the nu-metal bands growing up in the early 00's: Linkin' Park, Evanescence etc.

ABBA get a free pass simply because of the huge number of amazing songs they brought out.

Evanescence are superb...nothing guilty there

Beatles are massively overrated imo
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Band from the 60s who still have a massive following of all ages. Every member a song writer who as well as doing their own role can write songs and sing. Not many of them about.

Starting to understand why you like Beiber

Was a big fan of Whitney Houston (influenced by my fangirl sister). Her soulful singing gave me goosebumps:
"I have nothing"
"Greatest love of all"
"Saving all my love"
"I will always love you"

And was a fan of Celine Dion too.

At the time, I thought they were. But looking back now, I generally dislike that genre of rock. Amy Lee is talented though, no doubt.

Was just strange how my music tastes evolved from pop genres. Even something like smooth jazz (basically pop jazz). Used to love Kenny G and Grover Washington. Somewhere along the line, I started listening to Coltrane and Miles Davis, and found smooth jazz a little shallow.

It’s difficult defining a guilty pleasure. I mean Whitney Houston is one of the greatest, if not the greatest, female artist of all time. Does that really count?

I suppse it’s also a personal thing rosso. As well as with your social circle. As I’ve gone against my own argument as The Beatles are a guilty pleasure for me due to my hatred of scousers.

Mine evolved from rap. Which evolved from East 17 and Soul II Soul

I wouldn’t have too many bands/artists as guilty pleasures rather than songs

Case in point

Pointer sisters .......Not a fan at all

Pointer Sisters - Everybody is a star........Classic, even if it is a cover

I reckon the biggest guilty pleasure band is probably U2. I’ve never come across anyone, in real life or otherwise, that ever admits to liking their songs yet they’re one of the biggest selling bands of all time abd always sell out stadium tours.

Been getting gradually worse ever since
