Like Piers Morgan is kicking off about Harry, didn't see much from him on Andrew...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If Andrew did what he's being accused of in some quarters then the condemnation will be so obvious that it pretty much goes without saying. However, as things stand, anyone in the news would have to be careful because anything they say would be libel/slander. Like what you've put above, only you're far more likely to get away with it on here than Piers Morgan on Twitter. Plus, you know, innocent until proven guilty.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He proved himself guilty with his TV interview tbf, not legally speaking but there's no doubt he did it.
Her one a week or so later was just the nails in the coffin.
One way or another he must be tried. Here or in the US but if that doesn't transpire i'm sure the royals will lose more than a few supporters.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think my main issue with the whole thing is that I don't believe either of them - him or her.
I recall in Scotland you have a legal verdict available to you of "not proven". I'd be going with that if I was a juror based on what I've seen of it all.
(I'm pretty convinced he had some awareness of what was happening and at least "turned a blind eye". It's also clear that his "alibi" was a stupid and desperate attempt to deflect. But I'm holding off on absolute guilt. The most evidence there is is the photo, and that's not enough for me on its own.)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Missed this first time round.
I'm astounded you would say that to be honest.
She was believable and he was 100% lying through his teeth.

Not that kind of money.
Have to say that queen has raised a shocking family.
The concept of someone is better than others and is entitled to live a life of privilege and through the servitude of others purely due to the chance of being fired from a certain mutton musket is completely ridiculous.
As is the chance of being fired from a mutton musket that is in a certain territory on Earth which some claim is somehow superior than others.
We are all the product of a lustful embrace and all other circumstances surrounding that are pure chance.
In no way does that bestow any special status just for being born.
Anyone suggesting they benefit from such are suffering delusions of grandeur.

Can only judge on what I've seen, particularly in cases like this. Take the case the other year when the guy was being elected as a senior judge in America (I forget the official title involved but I remember the case). I believed the complainant in that 100%. But Andrew's accuser, I've just never entirely bought it. Always had my doubts that she could be after a pay-off, believed the Royals would offer one to keep her quiet and then kept going with it when they didn't.
I appreciate that's a harsh interpretation if she's telling the truth - which I accept she could be. But that's also why cases like these are so difficult.

Nothing like getting a bit carried away...
Diafol, I think the thing with Wales is that they’d probably struggle to become an EU member outside the union. So an independent Wales would likely be even worse off. I’m not sure there’s any appetite for an independent Wales anyway is there?
Regardless, even if there was it really doesn’t address the issue of abolitioning the monarchy. The electorate of England is pro monarchy.
A unite dIreland may well happen but there is less appetite now for it in the South than there would have been historically.
I do think if it came to a vote the majority would vote for it, but it's a complicated issue, unionism in NI would have to be embraced in a UI and all that comes with it, some won't want that, and this is what would be a blocker.

There is a growing pro Indy movement in Wales. It's not as advanced as it is in Scotland but numbers at its inception are much higher than the same in Scotland (in terms of members/marches etc). I've read quite a bit about the subject too and it seems, from most reports that I've read (although to be fair they could be biased) that Wales could be in the top 30 odd countries in the world in terms of GDP with independence. I think that's a generation away at least though in getting enough to want to go indy but it is moving that way. Every poll in Wales suggests that's the case.
My scenario was hypothetical here in any case in terms of abolishing the monarchy but it could happen in my lifetime. I'm certain of it
So if they are to become 'financially independent' do they start at £zero? Or will they start with the various trust funds and millions available to Harry?
Diafol, that’s interesting. I’m surprised by the prediction that you’d be top 30. I do think it’ll be difficult for Wales to force the issue with independence anyway. Westminster are unlikely to give you it, especially if Scotland and Ireland go.
And it’s just not likely that a party will run for government on a manifesto pledge to abolish the monarchy and actually get in.
Tourists love the royal set up, American's love it more than we do. Tourism brings in plenty of coin so it won't be scrapped. The anthem needs changing though, its dreadful and outdated.

I don't think it'll happen now and it would be wise not to go for it now IMO but I do think there will be an Indy referendum within a generation that the pro Indy movement have a chance of winning.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
'Financially Independent' of the Royal Family just means they will forego their right to funds from the sovereign grant - which amounts to about 5% of their income, which they have said they will do.
The rest of their income comes via Prince Charles' Duchy of Cornwall. Which they haven't said they will, or have to, give up.
Hard to tell how much money Wales is making due to being part of the union as well, Diafol. So it could be hard to qualify as an EU member.
You know more about the indy movement than me so I’ll have to take your word for it, despite my reservations. I just think England will make it very difficult for this to be achieved.
But even it it does, it just cements the monarchy’s status in England. I don’t think I’ll ever be alive to see it’s abolition.
