Just a fresh breeze for the hard men of Lewis. It should be light there by now.
Vidal I note your remark about me being pathetic and you might be right, but I think it is pathetic to put TL straight back into a winning team. And yes I was cross that Bogle replaced Wisdom, I have posted before that I thought Wisdom is better than Bogle, who I would sell if we get decent money.
Apart from TL, I've taken against Bielik. I think he was far too much money, his heart isn't in Derby County, he is just looking to move up to a bigger club. I think he has the "Im better than the others" similar to TL and Ince.
I'm getting fed up with all these injuries, what is going on? Bielik turns up after costing £10 million and he isn't fit and continues to be injured every few matches. Marriott is another always injured, or is it something else? Brian Clough wouldn't have stood for all this, Hector only missed one match in 3 seasons.
VC, I think you are (understandably), just hankering after a past time that unfortunately, cannot be recovered. Bielik's injury last night looked very serious. I've heard nothing more about it but he was stretchered off. Brian Clough and Kevin Hector were two very special footballing phenomena. If we could find the like we would be doing really well. We try but find it impossible. Meanwhile Bielik got injured. He's a decent enough player but not slightly equivalent to King Kev. It is not Bielik's fault that we paid £10m for him. And it was not his fault that he got injured last night. We need him recovered and back in the team. There have always been players who gave their all for their club (Buxton) and players who perform more for themselves than their club. Tom Ince is one of the latter. Not sure about TL, though there is often something amiss with his performance quotient, ( Performance achieved/performance potential). Bucko's was often 100%, and you have to bear in mind one player's 90% is often more effective than another player's 100%,
.
Where does that leave us? I believe it leaves us having to rely on the manager's strategy, knowledge of his players' ability-wise, fitness wise and attitude-wise. And let him get on with things whilst we support and shout and encourage.
I get what Vidal was saying in his post ( not sure I read his remark referring to you VC10Ram in those terms, possibly misread?)
There has been an increase in the criticism directed at TL, I've defended him for two seasons but found myself frustrated by his continual disappointing performances and behaviour. Add to that the poor discipline record this season.
What I did find incredibly disappointing was on that on FB one of the Derby County pages posted Happy Birthday salutations to him and majority of the fans jumped on to berate him. I think there's a time and place. Saturday was definitely it (on forums not on the pitch!) - I found myself incredibly disappointed that someone who has been so disappointing could find himself recalled without actually busting a lung, showing some effort/desire coming off the bench first. But then it needs to be let go. We have an unhealthy obsession to find the 'bad guy' to berate as fans - Social media, new wave of fans certainly don't help in my opinion.
There's very few players in my opinion who would say - "absolutely loved my time here and I'm very happy to be returning as a player/ coach / manager."
I know a few years ago both Shotton and Christie said negative comments about the club. Shotton was unfortunate to never play in his rightful position and criticised and Christie was found out to not quite possess the skills for a defensive RB (should have been in a RWB position in a 532 formation) and took a weekly dose of abuse on the pitch ( plus whatever came in his direction during the week). Its a shame that it can't be channeled in a more positive way so that the criticised player can say ' thanks for the support' during their barren spell. Some definitely deserve that support and others possibly not.
Never booed any of our Derby players (seems counter productive as we need to encourage them). Sometimes let out a sigh of despair when one gives the ball away cheaply or misses a sitter. Waghorn should be able to recognise my voice this season.
I have supported Tom Lawrence for a couple of seasons against criticism but this season he has had so few good games and hasn't had the excuse of his mother's death to fall back on. He also needs to give up the sauce.
It is highly likely that your very last sentence is all that needs to be said on the subject of TL. But I cannot know that for sure. Philip Cocu should know. I expect he does. I think his task could be - move him on for the best financial deal possible and get the best out of the rest for the remainder of the season.
Desi I agree with what you say except for your last paragraph. I think Shotton got some stick because his attitude wasn't great and his play wasn't great and I don't remember Christie getting much criticism.
Like Spart, I have never booed a Derby player and I hope I never do. But some test one's patience.
Ramdini you are right, Cocu knows more than us, but some of his decisions are puzzling. Like bringing Malone on for a forward (I've forgotten whether it was for Marriott or Waghorn) and dropping Martin and Wisdom when they had set up that nice goal.
I hope we sign that Chelsea bloke who was on loan at Charlton who played well against us, he looked good to me (forgotten his name as well!)
Conor Gallagher, VC. Yes, I liked the look of him, thought he was easily their best player. Hopefully he doesn't remember what I shouted at him when he was rolling around near me on the touchline though! I fear I may have lost some of usual objectivity in my assessment of his character.
Conor Gallagher is his name and will do well for us. I think before Wally's son makes any more signings, he should put the names past this site so they don't buy any more rubbish.
JHC Vidal, you beat me by one second!!!
If you were Gallagher would you seriously contemplate coming to Derby considering the persistent abuse he got from the home crowd, after Wisdom virtually snapped his ankle in front of the E Stand ?
Ah well, money talks, I suppose
Leave me alone! I didn't realise Wisdom had even made contact! I retract my statement(s) on the day in question, m'lud, in the light of the subsequent video evidence. Conor, if you're reading, no hard feelings mate.
I regularly listen to the Monday moan-in on RD and since it went live on FB, I have also checked out the comments that are posted.
In the past few months the majority of these have become so puerile, ignorant and abusive, that I now just listen to the callers, which I presume RD filter (to a limited extent). How long that might last, however, I do not know.

Vidal - assume you were making a medical assessment of his injury anyway?
Am I allowed a moan?
My single regret of this season (apart from usual serial under-performance) is......Keogh.
He certainly had his critics but would, and should have been, in time a Derby legend. Played every game for how many seasons....indefatigable, and I thought a leader, And all thrown away.......Bloody sad. Message ends.
It would take a lawyer with the skills and lack of morality of Saul Goodman to claim that my words bore any relationship to his injury, Heb, I'm sad to say. The only thing I can say in my defence is that I asked the boy sitting with his Dad in front of me to close his ears before I let loose with the expletive-riddled character assassination. All badly misjudged on my part. A finer chap than Mr Gallagher you could not find anywhere.
Stop worrying about Gallagher's sensibilities you guys. All footballers must be inured to opposition fans criticisms and colourful language. He could suit us very well - and therefore himself. He'd have the fans on his side after 10 minutes.
'He'd have the fans on his side after 10 minutes.'
But for how long, Ramdini
To be fair it was only me doing the worrying. If he is a Chelsea lad, hopefully our 2 loanees of last year and the manager will put him right. Due to their performances, they were widely loved & accepted.
The fans will be on his side after ten minutes, and on his back after eleven.
Known to science as the Bamford Phenomena
One possible (controversial) point about young loanees coming to Derby.
Would you be happy for your 19 year old protégée to come to a club tainted by a culture (rightly or wrongly) of young players getting para, crashing cars, being convicted and no- one in the hierarchy able to control it?
There was an isolated event, I don't think that makes it a "culture". With all of the fallout I would think that it would now be less likely to happen at Derby than at any other club.
