Brutal... Pick the unquestionably successful signings out of that

And people still want a short term, break the bank approach

Whatever has caused it, this is the major reason why we are where we are. Not one club in the world could be in a strong position when such a high percentage - practically all - if its signings over a seven- or eight-year period have been underwhelming at least.

Different managers want and rate different players, that list confirms what we know.
Changing managers often is not the way to build a coherent squad.

I thought Martial was around £35 mill

what's worse is there's a few that have gone away and been much much better, blind, di maria, depay, falcao(came at the wrong time after his injury)

posted on 11/1/20

We should not have signed Di Maria, he did not want to play for us, and his wife didn't want to live in Manchester if rumours are to be believed.

Mind boggles mate.

Of course changing managers so regularly will cause problems but the fact is every one that has been appointed post Ferguson has failed and were rightly sacked, had any of them stayed longer they wouldn’t have helped things.

So you have to look higher up and lay most of the blame on Woodward for the mess he’s causing and the fact he seems to have no long term plan or clear path he wants to take the club. If a manager is failing and is the wrong appointment to begin with then they need to be sacked, it’s up to the CEO to make the right decisions on appointments based on a solid strategy and direction they want to take the club and be accountable for, something Woodward has failed to do from day one.

Goals and appearance clauses... Trophy clauses as well i think... There's even one for winning the Balon D'or.... Should be safe on that one

Ideally we hire the right manager and give him as much money as he needs

So far we’ve not had that combination

He wasn’t the right manager though

Our recruitment department has been outdated for a while. Apparently they didn't identify proper targets for Moyes, so he goes for what he knows in Felleini.

LVG and Jose had good recruitment before joining us. They probably thought that our scouts were on a par with other top clubs. By the time they realised, it was too late.

All of this could have been fixed if we appointed a DOF.

Martial's final fee was £43.2m

United paid £36 million up front for Martial, but his contract contains three bonus clauses worth £7.2 million each, taking the potential fee to £57.6 million.

However those clauses needed to be met before the 2018/19 season - and therefore the final two clauses are obsolete.

Paul Mitchell and Pochetino

The dream team. Doubtful that Ed will cede much of his own power though

Which one do you hold responsible for pochettino poor transfer record at spurs.... Mitchell or Poch

And why when it's one or the other do you want them both at United

posted on 11/1/20

Not my dream team, but Poch is very good.

Mitchell left a couple of years or so into the partnership

He did bring Alli, Trippier and Alderwereld

He’s now crushing it at Red Bull Leipzig

posted on 11/1/20

Actually I think the RB means something else regarding Leipzig but they still have something to do with red bull

He was our best manager since SAF though and we’ve taken a step backwards with Ole

But I agree with hindsight that he wasn’t the right guy just as I’m sure people who argued day and night can accept that LVg was also not the right guy

Mata, Herrera, Blind, Romero, Zlatan, and James, which was a no-lose scenario signing. It’s a short list.

The jury is still out on some.

But Romero must be one of the club’s best ever signings. The best number two keeper in world football since he’s been at the club, and a free transfer.

Hardworking, professional, not a single complaint from him about not getting games, and has barely ever let us down. His average performance is at least an 8 out of 10.
