So with CL football highly unlikely

Fair reasoning there Sandy. Though I feel CL will be tougher this year. The most important element in CL from this stage on is that the return fans must be at home.
Ask Liverpool. Only reason they beat Barca.
So a combo of relatively easy games and the return at home could pave the way for us to get to the semis. After that anything can happen.
Though wouldn’t rule CL qualification through league either.

If we had beaten Chelsea we would have gone 4th so you can't exactly blame the start of the season alone... We bottled it that day with negative tactics and it has led to an awful run of form.

We have no chance of winning the CL considering we have lost to every big team we have played since Jose joined.

Had we beaten Chelsea at home under Jose we would have got into the top 4. That was nothing to do with Poch or the poor start. Clearly not getting top 4 means Jose has failed as well.

Of course, on paper it's entirely possible for us to win it this season. We're still in it, and also although far from a gimme - the next round draw could've been much tougher on us.

I think if anything, the main barrier which stands in our way of winning it this year, is the fact that we're now a bit rubbish.

Not saying it would be easy, far from it, but it looks a route back in. Although I suspect all 16 teams left are thinking the same.

Another thing about not being that close to the top four, is that it may actually focus the team and manager going all out in the FA Cup. Usually this is a just a bit of a nuisance competition for Spurs, with Top Four being more important. But I suspect Jose will take the FA Cup more seriously than his predecessor.

Jose inherited a group of players who are a shadow of their former selves. They have no form or confidence and plenty of them need getting rid of. I'm not sure he is the right man for the job but the time to judge him will be the start of next season.

If we had beaten Watford, Newcastle, Brighton, etc before the end of October, then 4th would have been easier. The damage was done before the change of manager. When he came in Spurs were like 12 points of 4th, the have brought the deficit down, despite having to play United, Chelsea and Liverpool since beginning of December, but the gap is to big in my opinion.

I would still believe they could do it if they could perhaps put in a run, and after Chelsea away on 22 February, they would have played Liverpool, City and Chelsea all home and away, and would have finished with all their big away games against the so called biggies, so could still make it.

Yup the being a bit rubbish could be a problem. I hadn`t actually factored that in.

But you have to believe I suppose. It was a miracle Spurs made it last season.

In fairness Pawl, he needs at least three transfer windows, and two full seasons. The previous manager had five years, and several transfer windows.

Jose cannot be really judged until 2022 at the earliest.

Season is over Sandy, CL (if we get through) will be a matter of time before we get slapped by a big side.

FA Cup is our only real hope but Saints are in such good form I expect us to lose if we get past Boro

Not mentioning the fact that we have no striker at the club who's fit.... If Kane has that chance Sonny had the game ends 1-1

If we end up with Llorente I'd be p!ssed. Club HAS to spend big to get a striker in this window. City played Aguero and Jesus yesterday and yes, I know it was Villa but they slapped them 6-1

Season is well and truly over unless we dip, if we don't I hope we finish outside Europa and have a good go next season once Jose has two windows to change things,

But then we failed to beat Southampton and Norwich after which has contributed to us being a large points gap behind the top 4 again.

Jose is supposed to have the pedigree for getting more out of a team with his record and was brought in by Levy to save our top 4 hopes. If he doesn't manage to do that then he's failed in his own way.

Thats very reasonable Sandy but in the modern game you rarely get that sort of time.

However I think we agree that those who are judging him harshly right now are being ridiculous.

Anything is possible really in cup football. No way should Liverpool have got through their semi after being 3-0 down against Barca in the first leg. One in a million that Barca will ever let a three goal lead slip, let alone in a semi-final.

Jose will get more out of his team, when he brings in his own players. At the moment he is left with the previous managers team, and he will gradually weed out the players that are not good enough. Will take two or three windows though. And that is only fair.

Have you ever demanded any manager get CL football in his first two months at the club. I doubt it very much.

I think most managers mate, get at least a couple of seasons, unless they are heading towards the Championship. Most of the managers that get sacked in a shorter time are those usually in a relegation scrap.

He already said he was pleased with the squad when he joined, and also that we'd get top 4. Even so, do you think the group of players he has aren't good enough to beat the bottom team in the league? If they can beat Wolves away they can certainly beat Norwich away

We just don't have the depth at present, if Ndombele stays fit and Winks can build a partnership with him then we have a great base to work on. Son and Lucas add the pace and Alli if on form can provide the guile

But like I said, no 20+ season striker and we're in trouble. I don't want to see Kane back this season unless we have a semi final in either CL or FA Cup. If we go out of either before he's back then no point risking and saving for next season once the Euro's is out of the way.

Our injuries are cripping I will agree, Lloris, Davies, Kane, Sissoko, etc. And of course our record signing Ndombele, who has been a complete waste of time.

Our season is over. Simple as.

Don't expect us to finish any higher than 6th.
Fully expect us to go out of the CL against Lipzeig.
Probably have enough to get past Borough tomorrow, but will go out away to Saints anyway.

Damage limitation now.

Get through this season, a year out of Europe and rebuild the squad.

I'm expecting N'Dombele to leave in the summer. I just don't think he wants to be here. He's always injured and doesn't want to play.

He barely missed a game with Monaco in two years.
