No chance.
Reckless and endangered the safety of an opponent, winning the ball is irrelevant, which is a red card.
We've seen red cards for far less.
If it had been Tanganga on Robertson, the outcome and reaction afterwards would have been quite different.
The only way to avoid it would have been Robertson not challenging for the ball. Never a sending off.
On seeing it a fair few times I think the rules dictate a red. The fact Tanganga saw it coming and took avoiding action is all that saved it being worse, imo.
Robertson took an awful, heavy touch, and trying to rectify his error goes in with a lunging attempt to win the ball which results in his studs going into the shin of the Spurs lad.
If Liverpool had scored from the attack they got from Robertson's pass I'm almost certain VAR would have ruled it out for a foul but not a red.
The conversation was done on here the other day, but it's a valid point about Robertson 'acting injured' afterwards. Players tend to do that to try to avoid any punishment so does suggest he knew it was potentially punishable.
Went for the ball and won it, but could be argued was reckless in terms of the follow through.
Foul? Definitely.
Yellow card? Potentially, personally I think it should have been.
Red card? never in a million years.
It was Tanganga who arrived late. When Robertson begun to swing his leg to the ball, Tanganga's foot wasn't even in the ground yet. It's just an unfortunate coming together.
It wa a straight red all day long. Even if it was unintentional, 9/10 of players would have seen red with a studs up tackle.
fack me i'm so bored of football at the minute

This confirms it wasn't a red.

Never mind the Tanganga tackle, when the sc@m bag kicked Toby A for no reason that was a red. Mad how Liverpool fans used to cuss the refs for always siding with Utd back in the day.

glad sandys around to clear up all the talking points.
It was checked by VAR!
His studs didn’t make full contact with his shin, it was more a glancing touch!
It’s a contact sport!
