It was Tanganga who arrived late. When Robertson begun to swing his leg to the ball, Tanganga's foot wasn't even in the ground yet. It's just an unfortunate coming together.

Robertson can not know where the opposition players leg will go. It's a stupid rule which needs changing as the consequential nature of swinging legs in close proximity means a player can be given a red card if the angles result in someone being hurt.
In reality, most slide tackles have the capacity to endanger an opponent.
