What’s the point of it? I

It simply adds access to buttons some people find awkward. For me the two stick buttons would be obvious ones to choose. but any button you want quick access to, or you find uncomfortable.

Apparently it works really well.

Seems like such an odd thing to bring in this far into the consoles life cycle though.
Why leave it so late

I agree mattyp. It could that back buttons will be part of the PS5 controller, this could mean being able to utilise the PS4 controller on the new console.

Don’t get it. The back button is the PS4 round one right? (I’m still not sure what r2 and r1 way round )! If so, is it too hard to move your thumb half an inch to the right to press?

Seems pointless to me.

Ole, you can map any button you like to the triggers. mapping them literally to the tip of your fingertips.

But you pretty much have them all anyway?

..and if you think of me as your average joe punter, ps4 illiterate idiot, then...not much market there.

Pretty much, that is the nature of a controller. but in certain games those fractions of second could be the difference between winning or losing.

I would certainly have loved them when playing World of tanks, holding down R3 was a right pain.

Fair enough. I’m too casual to see the benefit.

maybe, but i cant see it myself as there is no benefit in transferring controllers over, its not been done since the original play station so no one expects it.

i like the idea of it, and at 40 quid its hardly bank breaking.

id get one if they had released it earlier, even though its not too badly priced im loathed to buy something this late in the consoles life cycle.

Personally i think its a really good idea, the first thought is for it to replace R3 and L3, however depending on the game you could easily see the advantages of different combinations.
