I wonder if Liverpool fans would prefer going unbeaten or winning the CL

If that was a choice
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would take winning the league on goal difference, having lost 5 games, if we won the CL as well to be honest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough - I just think being centurion unbeaten is a better achievement- maybe you’ll do that and win the CL 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In what world is being unbeaten centurions better that winning the PL and CL?

In a period of time when English clubs are dominating bother European competitions it makes wholly and utterly ridiculous to brand the league weak.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Tell robb... We'd be bottom far lower if it wasn't
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Shugsy, you’re reaching here

I’ve only ever said that had Spurs and Arsenal been better this season we’d have a harder time getting top 4 - which is an indisputable fact
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If your granny had balls etc...

If Spurs and arsenal were better they could have taken points of Liverpool... No?

Again, true but these are all ‘what if’ side arguments to a dubious point someone made about the only reason Liverpool have it so ‘easy’ is that the league is weak

The league is almost always ‘weak’ to some extent or another. Can anyone point to a season where all of the top 6 were playing at maximum potential. If there is an example I’d argue it was the exception rather than the rule

posted on 16/1/20

This is the strongest the league has been in my lifetime imo.

I find it weird that because top teams are regularly dropping points to teams below them that this can somehow be construed as the league being weak.

It's completely the opposite.

People need to step back and look around the league;

City - Not firing on all cylinders
Utd - Going through Transition
Chelsea - Going through Transition
Arsenal - Going through Transition
Spurs - Going through Transition

The only top team that isn't going through transition is Liverpool and they have done well to maximise the opportunity, like Leicester did.

Now let us extend that to Europe;

Madrid - Nowhere near where they used to be
Barcelona - same as Madrid
Bayern - same as Madrid and Barcelona
Juventus - Being pushed hard by Inter
PSG - Well, PSG

League and Europe is weak and Liverpool are benfiting immensely.

It is a shame that when we were top dogs we came up against the best of the best of those sides in Europe and in the Prem.

We would have won 10 CLs if we had come up against the mediocrity in Europe now.

Liverpool can only beat what is put in front of them and they are doing it. Like Leicester did.

That's the point.
For all this nonsense about the top 6 being weak, ultimately Liverpool have had to overcome one of the greatest teams the league has ever seen, and have done just that, and by a distance.
How many games have City lost?
5.
Bit strange that in such a weak PL, a team like City could still lose 5 games and draw 2 out of 20.

South American teams were really poor around the time United won the Club World Cup whereas Flamengo are one of if not the best South American teams of recent times that Liverpool had to beat to win the Club World Cup. So that puts Liverpool top of the pile even if they don't win the league.

You’re arguing two different points

I’m sure that even if Arsenal and Spurs were better Liverpool would beat them too. I don’t think the quality of Arsenal or Spurs really makes much difference to whether or not Liverpool get 100 points. They may even get more than that at the rate they’re going

But our poor season and points per game is poor whatever Arsenal and Spurs’ current form is.

I think you can also state that while it's likely true.... the current Liverpool side are a hell of a team that would likely challenge or be successful in any other time... Certainly in recent years.

I hate comparing eras tho... Even the 90s was a different game nearly... Pitches/sports science etc

The coping mechanisms will probably become more and more bizarre as the end of the season approaches. 🙂

It's fvcking nonsense and makes him sound a bitter idiot imo.

228 points over 2.5 years across 98 games and three European finals in a row is because ALL the other teams are poor?

Embarrassing.
