That's all we had to pay them

Fair play to him.

I wasnt a fan of him as a winger but I think he's done an ok job at full back, and has got lots of over the top stick from united fans. Wouldve preferred to keep him till the summer actually.

Great move for the lad and a real chance to bag a trophy

Thank you Ashley.

Got some unfair stick but all in all was a good player for us over the years.

I wish him well.

This

Best of luck to him.

Such a stupid move letting him go. In a team that lacks experience and leadership, he is someone that leaves it all on the pitch and probably the training ground.

... But not the best Ryan Giggs replacement we could have had.

Will always remember his goals against Arsenal in the 8-2

That brief period of time where we looked amazing for a few games

I wish him well. It's a bit of a risk as all of our full backs are now inexperienced and/or injury prone but if it frees up a squad place and a number...

I am going to get a lot of hate for this and rightly so

I could never bring myself to like young

the signing of young for me represents a transfer that went on to cost us a player that would have been the perfect heir to giggs #11 shirt (hazard). And this is not youngs fault but i cannot help but dislike him for it

in the same i can never like phil jones as i honestly believe the signning of jones hampered us in our attempt to sign varane

Cant believe we for a fee. Well played Judgward

Can anyone (Rosso?) shed any light on our squad number situation now while we're at it.

On here I count 23 (including Young) in our 25 man squad. Does that mean we're OK with incomings for now? I suppose some of the U21 will have to be registered next season though. Any help appreciated!

Young’s transfer didn’t stop us from getting Hazard, it was Hazard’s agent fee that United and Ferguson were unwilling to pay. Also Chelsea winning the CL helped his choice.

Strange to get rid of Young now and not wait till the summer. Didn’t Inter also buy another fullback this window?

Didn't he turn down an extended contract ?

DDG, Romero, Grant
AWB
Maguire, Lindelof, Bailly, Jones, Rojo
Shaw
Matic, Fred, Pogba, Pereira, Mata, Lingard,
Martial, Rashford

I make it 18 players registered over 22

I think it was always gonna be Young’s last season here. Williams emergence probably sped up his departure.

This

A player you would have expected to be moved on in the summer

Getting rid of Young and bringing in Fernandes and Soumare. IF this all happens, I rate this window a good 9/10.

Lovely

Sancho, Koulibaly and Ndidi in the summer and we’re ready to go 👀

officially yes but do you honestly think we would have been arguing over the agent fee if we did not sign young?

getting rid of a aging squad player who does not want to be here makes perfect sense to me. Young presence will only mean less game time for dalot. and if young in 6 months time he will be off and we will not know if dalot is a competent backup for awb.

He's had a very good career and now an experience in Italy, fair play.

Good move by Ole another player moved on who didn't really have a future.

Oles changing my mind about him, he's not Fergie but he's doing alright.

Ferguson has always been very vocal about his issues with agents and I think it’s perfectly understandable that he was unwilling to meet their incredibly high agent fee (for the time).

I guess this means that Rojo won't be going as part of any Fernandes deal.

Like others have said I'd rather he went in the summer, and fair to play to him, from at times not even getting in the matchday squad around 2012/13 sort of time, to captaining United in the CL quarter-finals against Barca then bagging a move to Inter, who are second in Serie A, what a wild ride...
