Hey lad..best team in the land, table doesn't lie

Pep is a fraud. How he can be called the best manager in the world is a joke

Ancelotti has been twice as good as him. Klopp makes him look average on a quarter of the budget

Pep is the cheque book manager

Bald fraud

But harsh t bone his barca side, while full of quality, really were an amazing side.

He does get lauded a bit too much though

Reality is that in his first season he was rubbish. He then spent nearly 200 mil on the defence and was hailed as a genius.

I would.lobe to see him manage a club working under a tight budget and having to sell their best players and then trying to improve the team.

Next stop for pep is no doubt juve or psg

I am not denying he ain't a good manager. As long as you give him the cheque book he will create an awesome team. But so can nearly most of the other top managers.

Once Klopp signed his new contract it was only ever going to be Pep moving on sooner rather than later.

It's because he needs top players to play the way he wants his teams to, everyone including the keeper needs to be quality on the ball and be adept at playing in tight spaces.

Really would be interesting to see him at a club who couldn't fund that level of player.

How do yous think he'd do with our current squad?

its just who is or isn't a media darling at the time

Like Klopp now, who hasn't exactly been short of a few quid to spend either, media love to turn people into the Messiah just so they can crucify them later.

Can u honestly see him making hendo and Robertson play like the way they are now. Totally agree with the type of players he needs

Let it all out lads. `he has won 29 trophies in an 11 year period that Liverpool have outspent every single team except United and Chelsea for 30 years and not won the premier league.

Let that sink in

Couple of things on that. Guardiola has never been accountable for transfers, not with us, Bayern or Barca. Also, he’s not lauded specifically for results, he’s lauded for the way his teams play, that’s why his peers speak so highly of him (including Klopp). Personally, I’ve loved having him every season, including the first one when we weren’t winning, it’s made me view a lot of things differently.

We aren’t the best team by a long way this year, too many players either out of form and a couple coming to the end of their career that should be playing less than they are (Silva in particular)

The leagues been over for a while, it’s far more likely the gap will continue to grow rather than reduce. That’s fine, Liverpool fully deserve it. We’ve been on a great run of both results and performances the last couple of seasons and are still watching great football at times though, it’s really not that much of a hardship!

I kind of agree with you on that re crucifying etc. But the main emphasis here is yes klopp has spent money. But he had to sell his top players to spend big. Pep did not have that restriction.

You won't get to the position we are in without spending money.

Wonder what we'd have spent if sterling and cout weren't sold, like would we have got vvd and Allison and fab?

But Pep doesnt play long ball football, how can he make use of Hendo? I dont get this, must Pep be apologetic that his style of football requires skilled footballers who can control a football in tight spaces and therefore must work with talented players?

I mean does Liverpool not have world class players? Last time I check you have more players in the European awards than City.

Some lazy arguments

Klopp only sold one top player right (Coutinho)?

That comment wasn't meant as a Klopp v Pep debate but to say Pep only succeeded because he spent truck loads of cash completely ignores his time at Barca, which is really where he made his name.

posted on 18/1/20

Do think fsg aren't afraid of putting their hands in their pockets though but obviously getting such a fee for cout especially helped.

No he doesn’t, he needs players with certain characteristics. That’s why he was fine with using Delph and then Zinchenko as left backs.

He needs top players to win multiple trophies, as every manager does.

He does improve players though he is a very good coach, I think sterling is a great example of that and KDB. Both have gone up levels under pep.

Fair point but like in midfled particularly he needs a real level of quality, nothing wrong with that though it's just many players couldn't do it to the level he wants them to, have to be a super technicall footballer. Like would Henderson thrive under pep like he does under Klopp?

posted on 18/1/20

Some people are as bad as the media. He just hit two record point totals in the league, won every domestic trophy last season and one bad season and he's a fraud. Normally with the points they have this season they'd be fighting for first but it's not normal that the team in first have twenty wins and a draw from their first twenty-one games.

Yes he needs the money to play in the style he likes but it's certainly plausible that of he didnt have that money to spend, he would adapt his style to the players he has.

The decision to not replace Kompany, further complicated with Laporte getting injured has ultimately been their downfall. They are still dominating games and scoring goals, however they're now conceding stupid goals also.

posted on 18/1/20

I like pep, his intensity is admirable and he's a real winner, don't buy into this fraud thing for a second. Plus he has a very defined football style which is great to watch when his teams are on it.
