Fred alongside a proper midfield will only get better.
If he doesn't then his current level will be as a very valuable squad player.
This lad did well in the CL with Shaktar and for us last season so he can play well in the big games.
A big asset for us.

I think the Fred plaudits are over the top personally.
That said, he’s ten times more use to the team than Matic.

Free can’t shoot, can’t pass and has no footballing brain. He shot later on this game when he should have played a through ball.

I apologise for the bad shooting, but he's quite the bulldog as of late and is growing by the week.
He did pretty well today.
Worked himself into the ground as usual but what was most pleasing was how he lead our transition into the final third which is what he was good at when he was at Shakhtar.
Like so many of our players it's his decision making and final ball that lets him down.

I thought Matic was pretty decent for you, especially in possession. Linked play pretty well, yeah ok his lack of pace was exposed when we broke, but lots of players get exposed by that.

He’s always okay in possession, he’s a decent player.
But you cut through us so easily and that was in part due to his lack of mobility.
He's the only player is give pass marks to for United tonight.

This is the problem with Matic really: a DM who doesn’t, or can’t, shield the defence. So often when he plays, opponents just flood through our midfield.
Was Matic playing the other week against City?
As they did the same, cut through the centre of your midfield and defense as though it wasn't even there at times.
