How can Var work in this system?!

I don't think VAR will work with Mike Riley in charge, and with the refs we have.

Yeh Riley has an arrogance about him I don’t like. I thought they had been encouraged prior to Saturday me games to go and check the monitors. Seems not, it’s absolute joke and it is ruining the game.

With the extra year they had, they should have trained people specific for VAR. Maybe fatties, or women. Putting actual refs in there is wrong imo. And then, as you say, the on-field ref has the final say.

Mike Riley needs to die simple as. Only then can the game move on

Agree. It should be advisory for the off field ref but mandatory for the on field ref to go and check the monitor and then see if both opinions match up. The current concept is two refs with differing opinions, it can’t work like that.

VAR is not the problem. Its the stupid people not making use of it correctly.

Yeah, too many wrong decisions. Remember the Palace home game at OT. 2 straightforward decisions both ignored by VAR lol.

Cahill clear red card early on, VAR ignores it, Martial clearly fouled in penalty area, VAR looks at something else lol. Then we have the Southampton game, they get away with 2 red cards before they finally get a red card. They should concede a stonewall penalty but somehow VAR ignores it.

Sheffield United game Jones smashed out the way, nothing about being stronger he just gets smashed out the way and it was a clear foul but ref ignores it. Everton game elbowed De Gea and arm jumped on= somehow not given. They created 0 chances all game and we conceded a goal from a foul. There expected goal would have been 0 without it. That decision should have take around 1 second to overturn. Wolves game wonky lines maybe was offside but they gave it onside as they couldn't figure out if it was onside or offside.

Yeh, their has been some shockers. The worst rule is the handball one, so what they’re saying is that as an opposition player you can head it on to an opposing players hand and stop a potential goal like Sheff Utd v West Ham last week. It’s utter madness and it’s created more arguments than before it was introduced!.

Fouls will always come down to a matter of opinion and there’s nothing you can change about that unfortunately.

Its hard to believe Cahill takes player out knowing he is gonna get a straight red card and VAR decides we are going to cheat Man Utd. Then the fact VAR excuse of not giving Man Utd penalty on Martial was because they were looking at something else is crazy. No VAR would have been needed for those decisions.

Also the Greenwood foul in Southampton game, he got cleaned out as Southampton player tried to smash the ball clear like a goalkick and took Greenwood out instead. VAR had a look and didn't give a penalty. What is VAR looking at. Even a nearly blind person would see it is a penalty.

Honestly think VAR has screwed us over and has set the tone of our season. Imagine Palace game and Southampton game we easily win if ref gives correct decisions. Even Wolves game it looked offside but they gave a goal with wonky line and not correct time of when ball was played line.

I’m ok with that aslong as it’s the refs opinion after he’s checked with the video technology himself which is what VAR is and decided , not with someone in his ear who sees the incident differently.

Its not even opinion on certain decisions. Cahil takes someone out, clear foul, they agree and clear red card and they decide a yellow? That means they don't know the rules.

Clear foul in box= penalty VAR= We will just ignore it.
Clear foul on defender or goalkeeper= We will just ignore it and allow the goal. Happened quite a few times this season goals wrongly awarded and no penalty is given.

Its funny you see statistics like how teams have not benefitted from VAR when they ignore all decisions VAR has ignored wrongly.

It should be mandatory for the ref to check VAR pitch side
