I suspect neither clients or hosts have sought this imaging thing.
Airb&b like Amazon, google etc harvest data.
They delete absolutely nothing.
They then sell this on or create algorithms for marketing.
They could use my image in any marketing context with no consent.
And as I found out - they are skimming for themselves.
Nothing grand just a 5 bed lodge for 1 week in Scotland.
Air 1,700 & my mugshot - owners 1,450 normal transaction.

10+ years ago I warned my then 20's kids about online fast food.
They were routinely giving their 16+3 to a part time takeaway guy over
the phone. The fact that they had modest amounts in their accounts as
students was neither here not there.

Because they are businesses geared up to deal with potentially unwanted guests. Airbb owners are private individuals often living off site and therefore need extra protection.. not for everybody and they do like their tax free income

I could be getting some o that myself.
That kinda makes sense schiz esp at the smaller end.
But the Air host I was engaging with is a massive Highland Estate.
Dealing directly with them was hassle & hazard free.
Servicing & cleaning is included in their price.
The San Francisco (or wherever) guys were taking 255 for that.
Even tho the same folk will be servicing & cleaning.
The pic thing still puzzles me.
As Zach hinted I could have put up Brad Pitt.
How would they know?
How do you actually prove the image you send is you?
Still think it's typical global corp data harvesting.
Never mind this boring krap anyway.

Tmq, the reason behind the photo on airbnb will be because your account dorsnt have a profile pic. I use airbnb quite a bit i think its excellent. But i think because you meet the host/person who owns the property then they prefer to know what you look like, so they know who it ia they are giving their keys to!
