I said at the time when you signed him he was average. He would be our 4th best defender if he was in our squad.
They called him a sunday league defender here in Holland when the Netherlands played England.

Pretty much the main reason we went for Maguire was because of his reputation on the ball. That’s also why we loaned out Mike.

Im not Mike's biggest fan. He was average on the ball but even with that disadvantage he's twice the defender Maguire will ever be.
Who knows Maguire with a different partner like Tuanzebe may improve us next season. He can't get any worse.

He's so often left looking for options though, our midfield are awful at finding space.

Ed is taking a lot of flak and rightly so for a serious dereliction of duty overseeing such a catalogue of recruitment failure; he needs to start delivering.
Cavani and Bruno would add serious creativity and goal threat to our attack. Both should have been recruited last summer imho.

In a way, Maguire was a bit of a panic buy. We needed someone in the short term who could head a ball and show leadership. He was our only option despite his shortcomings. Leicester know we were desperate and held out for the full amount.

Kept Lukaku and Ole had committed to getting him match fit and motivated like Conte has
Bought Tielemans
Bought Ricardo Pereira

Lukaku needed to go. Never fit, would have become a cancer and watch him in italy, he is just as rubbish. The opposition is just that bit weaker.
Tielemans would have probably cost us twice the price he cost Leicester and wasn't really Oles priority in midfield. The attacking midfield position was always the problems ergo the links with them. Also, we have Matic, Fred, Pogba, McTominay, Pereira in that midfield role. Had lingard and Mata in attacking midfield.
Ricardo would have suited us better but we got infatuated with AwB. A good defender though and the attacking can be improved. Can't teach defense.
Maguire was a DESPERATION buy, caused by everyone saying we needed a defender. This is why we should not take anything this serious.

I think we might just squeak the Bruno deal through. I think Sporting are just trying to hold out for as much as possible. He played tonight for them btw.
Cavani is wanted by Chelsea and Atletico. But I’d hope our club (stupid I know) would make a huge effort to bring him in. Rashfords goals have saved our season. Without them it could get ugly

Ricardo is the RB Utd are crying out for. Good in defence, outstanding going forward.
We need to unearth another Brandon Williams for the right side.
