Btw Cavani is 32

I know he’s 33 in Feb but saying he’s 33 now makes it sound like he could be 34 any day now. He’s not even 33 😂
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He's closer to 33 than 32 Robb.

Got anther 6 team BTTS acca come in last night Robb.

My regular weekend £20 betting fund has turned into about £560 this week.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

True but by saying he’s 33 the narrative soon becomes that he’s almost 34 etc. You know this place 😹

I do like BTTS tbf. Especially in Spanish and Italian games where it happens so much. Betting funds are the way to do it too. Have an amount you kiss goodbye to whatever happens and then make the smart choices.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeh, I just do £20 at the weekend and if I win I continue it through into the week, banking some along the way.

Seem to be having some joy/luck with the 6 games BTTS. I was going for 10 games before, but kept coming up a game short, which is frustrating as the payout tends to be £1,500 - £2,000 off a fiver. So I have knocked it down to 6 games the last few weeks, which pays more like £150-£200 off a fiver. Seems to be working much better for me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yeah, my whole ‘philosophy’ is higher stakes, less games. Doesn’t always works but works a lot better than going for glory
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, I think it is the way forward for me.

How the hell is someone that's actually 32 closer to being 33 than 32?

Cavani also works hard and will bully defenders. Need someone like him

Has he been injured or dropped this season? 5 goals so far. No doubt he can score but it's interesting to see what happened this season.

I wouldn't mind Cavani coming in as an impact pivotal player. He could be another Zlatan for us.

However, there are some slight concerns with this potential deal.

Genuine desire or money to play for us?

The fact that our club is struggling both on and off the field.

The fact that he is a short term fix and given his age. De ja vu scenario again?

The fact that Chelsea (London factor) is interested.

Or do we put all our eggs in the Cavani basket and go all out for him this month?

It was a joke between myself and Robb. Like how United are closer to 14th than 3rd.

Should have pushed the boat out for Haaland, instead it looks like another costly stopgap.

'Edinson Cavani set to choose Atlético over Chelsea if deal with PSG is struck' (Guardian). The rumour mill suggests we're third in line, so this debate may well be academic.

Cavani at his peak would probably have cut it in the prem. Now I don’t think he would be that much better than Falcao was.

That is my concern.

I think we would have done everything we could if there was a chance. Dortmund was a great move for him, and more importantly his agent. He'll move on again in a few years, probably to Bayern or Barca/Madrid.

Didn't think he was as much of a crock as Falcao was?

Surely United could have blown Dortmund away on the numbers if they really wanted him.

Not my point Mike.

I would have liked Haaland, but get the feeling that it came down to more than money. Raiola has got the hump with us at the moment and I suspect that he pushed Haaland to Dortmund. With Raiola getting a huge fee every time the lad moves, he wants Haaland to make as many moves as possible. So a move to Germany, then possibly to the PL for a few years, then to Spain to perhaps Real or Barca, then to Italy, then over to America for a swan song. That is how Raiola will want it to go and both he and the player will make a lot of money.

I just think that if he were fully fit, he'll do much better than the Falcao we got. Falcao would've been much better had he been fully fit imo.

.....:

It wouldn’t have been about numbers. It would be about wanting to be a United player for more than a few years before his fat greedy agent angled for a move elsewhere.

Exactly as he had been doing with Pogba.

Makes sense, i can vaguely remember reading somewhere it was down to the agent.

As good a player as he looks, I am not convinced that it is worth bothering with player's that use Raiola as their agent. He/they always have their eye on the next move and there is a lot of distractions, as he can't keep his mouth shut and is constantly talking about where the player would like to move. It creates uncertainty in the squad and the manager is constantly asked questions in the media about what is happening with the player. As a club we should maybe just accept that it isn't worth the hassle.

The worry I'd have about signing Cavani is he's becoming more injury prone as he gets older.

Last year alone he missed almost 30 games because of 6 or 7 separate injuries.

It's a big risk.

Yeh, that is a problem. I didn't realise it was so many games.

Still a bit miffed we didn't try for Ben Yedder. How much did Monaco pay for him?

Whether we get Cavani or not, we are in desperate need for a striker

Rash is likely out until April and he’s by far our most reliable goal scorer. With martial now probably having to play every game at almost 2 a week the smart money is on him getting injured too.

He had a €40 million release clause which is about £34 million.

Hmmm. Would have been a nice addition. Although we could probably do with an option that offers and aerial threat.

Sanchez!!!! It's like you all just forget so easily. Remember how proud you all were for "stealing" Sanchez from city? Ashley Barnes, Andy facking Carroll would be a better signing. Please, there are no "cheap" world class strikers.
