^^^^^
Wasn't the same said about those two Barcelona youngsters we just binned.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That would be true as well. If we are just talking about pure technical ability on a football. That's not the only thing that makes a good footballer though which is why lots of brilliant young prospects don't actually make it in the game and lots of players who ability wise aren't the best make it to the top of the game.

How do you know this?
Do you watch our youth teams and City's youth teams?
Have we played each other and you can see directly?
Couldn't care less about this signing.
Another inexperienced, snotty-nosed, fly-weight gazelle.
Meanwhile 8 days left for a proven goalscorer, tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock.
Because it's obvious. City have been running trials and scouting in Yorkshire for years now, while our academy was being run to the ground. They hovered up most of the best youngsters that years ago would have been in our academy. Because we have a category 2 academy and they have a state of the arts one that has been invested properly in. Because our academy play games against low quality opposition and City play against best academies in the country.
Poveda has played for England at loads of age groups compared to Jordan Stevens our young winger who hasn't. Or Jack Clarke who didn't until he was already a key part of Leeds first team.
I'm not saying for one second he will be a success. Just that on a pure technical ability at his age, he will be better than the players in our academy.
What about the Barca kid?
Leeds are ranked 1 place below Man City in terms of academy productivity and that was 2 years ago, before our U23s encountered success last year.

Lot of theories been banded about all things happening at the club, grassy knolls, second shooters, FBI etc. Maybe it’s best to wait until next Friday and see where we are at,
Not the point I'm making Jonty.
I said that City and Barcelona youth players are better technical footballers than Leeds'. Not whether or not they make it as footballers or not. Plenty of examples of great talents who don't make it in the game or don't make it at the top level - Ravel Morrison talked about as one of the best in Man Utds academy for his age, but didn't make it at that level at all.
Man City's and Barca's U15-23s would batter ours.
Youth/experience balance needs to be struck. I've no issue with young talent like this being signed, if the 1st team is being properly taken care of as well.
Our bench on Saturday was like the mothercare 1st 11, which shouldn't be the case for a team chasing promotion.
Right now the club, in my view, isn't getting that anywhere near right.
Good luck to this guy if/when he signs. As with all players coming to the club, whatever the age or perceived ability, I'll back them.
Isn't it time to sign another goalkeeper? I'm worried we don't have enough

Firstly, I ask again, how do you know they're better technically than ours?
Have you watched them, have you watched ours, how can you compare?
Secondly, technical ability is not the primary thing most coaches look for, they're looking effectively for coachability. Has the athlete got correct attitude and commitment and is there a sound physical and technical base on which to build. My understanding with Poveda is that he has fallen out with academies along the way, hence having been at numerous clubs already.
I think if Southampton sign Samual from QPR as is being reported in various tabloids then the Adams deal may happen but it's taking it to the wire and dangerously risking a repeat of last year.

Don, I can't figure out if you say that with inside knowledge that club is going to sign someone we'll all be pleased with?
Or if it comes from a standpoint of judge the club's work after the window's closed?
If it's the latter, I'm not holding my breath.
Batts, I’m saying wait and see, as I keep saying if the player doesn’t fit the managers requirements he’s not bothered if he doesn’t get anyone, he’s a stubborn old devil as Orta is finding out,

If MB's stance is 'not bothered if we don't sing anyone'
and everything goes t . It Z up, he should probably head back to Argentina.
If Bielsa is that good that he can get the kind of football he wants out of what he took over, why is he so particular in what he wants ?. Surely there can't be that many players out there that fit the bill for what he requires. It's not like there is an ocean full of talent for the positions he wants to make better. Other coaches find what they want in January without breaking the bank.

Bielsa has a policy of only taking a job if he can have a full pre-season. That gives him time to work with what he has.
For mid-season signings he does not have that luxury and thus is more particular with what he gets at that stage of the season.
Think its ludicrous that we spent all this money and effort bringing in a manager as highly esteemed as Bielsa and then don't back him. Radz, Orta and Kinnear should be demanding that he has more players in his squad, its there money Bielsa is wasting.
Shaun, Radz has no intention of actually putting in the kind of money needed to get the team where it could be. Said over and over at least with Bates and Celino you kind of knew where you stood. Radz has a long term plan to milk the team for as much he can. There will come a day when we will regret he even came near ER

Spanish, Poveda (I think) was another who was in the England youth ranks, and a part of Man City's youth. Someone wrote a couple weeks back that he started training with the first team. Not sure if that's true or not?
But, if Jack Clarke couldn't get meaningful game time, I don't hold much hope that this kid will either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What I’ve seen of him on video he’s a far quicker and more accomplished player than Jack.
Reminds me of Saiz on speed.
Quite excited about this lad.
