There is also the point of whether Poch is currently interested.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's a most valid point, and most of the board is missing it. WTF would anyone want this mess right now? And at a very steep financial cost to Paunch. A no-brainer among no-brainers.

Reached a CL final is a huge acheivement apparently

It’s a shame they never turned up though........

No they bottled it

Bottled it/lost to a side everyone is losing to now

Inferior squads can beat superior ones when they are more coherently in their assembly and when they benefit from the stability of tactics, training and recruitment being aligned to a consistent strategy over a period of time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We have NONE of that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In all probability the dippers and berties will already have in place plans and strategies which will cover the next five years or even more. After all it's not as though that's anything unusual in any competently run organisation.

It’s a strange way to look at things

Seeing a manager take a club to a CL final after a summer where his club spent a grand total of £0 and playing the vast majority of the campaign with no home ground and calling it ‘bottling it’

Very strange

I can understand people wanting Ole gone, but what’s the fixation with Poch? Surely there’s better out there if the club pulls the trigger on Ole?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He knows how to build a good squad, reached a CL final a few months ago and is available
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And he hadn’t won a game away from home since January. Is reaching a CL final and being available the barometer? Shouldn’t we be aiming higher?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He’s considered one of the best managers in the game. And while the away record was poor last year, it as down to a culmination of things. In 2018 Spurs had the second best away record in Europe behind Bayern

I just listed the surface reasons. But this is a guy who knows how to build a very good side who can compete with anyone. Has a clearly identifiable style of play and gets the best out of his players.

A poor final few months doesn’t really tell the whole story considering very few managers stay as long as 5 years these days
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Considered by who?

So he builds a nice team and achieves what. Bottled the league in 2015/16, bottled the CL final.

In my humblest of opinions, there is absolutely no point in changing the manager while Billy Smart is in charge. That has to change first. It’s the very definition of madness, doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

Tbf that's a lot higher than we aimed when appointing the current manager. Whom many people still seem to think should keep his job. So Poch must be a shoe in

Absolutely not. But the managerial Merry-go-round has to stop. And unless changes are made at the top, then this will just be a rinse and repeat forum as it has been for the last 6 years.

I’ve no doubt Poch is a decent manager, but he belongs at clubs like Tottenham. We should aspire to better than that. But unless changes are made, then we might as well copy and paste all this bollox for next week/month/year........

Klopp had and has a different mentality to that. He broke BM monopoly in Germany. He’s made of similar stuff to SAF. You can see that in him. That’s what we should aspire to, that type of manager. Not Poch.

Just look at Barca. They have just hired a coach who I think has won nothing. They are more interested in coaching ability. Add some good players, and success should follow.

posted on 23/1/20

Poch is the best manager to build a team and also improve individual players.
He has a clear style of play and good tactics.

Spurs will regret what they have done.

This will be the best decision in years if Woodward appoint Poch.
