I can see why folk think he shouldn’t have said it, but he’s paid his wages and as a player he actively puts himself in the spotlight.

He’s playing in the public eye, so will be judged by the fans and will get abuse from opposition fans, largely because of him being a dafty. If he isn’t well enough to be judged he shouldn’t be out there.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Fans will give abuse regardless, right or wrong.

Is it really ok though when a pundit on national TV makes light of it? That`s actually the point here. And considering the experience Boyd has had in recent times, makes his comments all the more strange at best.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If he’s not well he shouldn’t be playing simple, then he wouldn’t be judged as one.

Boyd didn’t make light of his issues, simply judged him as a player. He’s a paid a wage, and happy to go over to Boyd when he celebrates etc. He’s still a player, we had a team of crocks on here yesterday for missing games with injury being judged as footballers

We've had a national newspaper label Morelos a "Nut Job" in a backpage headline

Boyds comments are not worse than this.

I don't remember the outrage from you about that
----------------------------------------------------------------------

From me personally? Correct, because I don`t live in the UK, therefore don`t see these newspapers. Plus, I am not outraged about Boyd either, I asked a question.

An agenda?! Fvck sake.

Of course, it’s natural for you to take on board what one Celtic fan says (you’re very open minded that way when one of us says something on here), and ignore all the press and other comments there’s been about out for such a long time.

The issue here is Kris Boyd lost his brother to suicide from depression, he should have known better but his mask slipped again.

He’s an erse.

Don’t think you can dictate how someone should react to something like that. Folk react in different ways, only human himself and no ones how he’s coped. Anger can be a reaction at himself and others.

Think folk have got a cheek to tell Boyd he should feel, especially when Griffiths is there lapping it up.

Boyd is the worst pundit I’ve seen - his hatred for Celtic is obviously stronger than his love for Rangers. McCoist, Rae et al never hide their Rangers support but I have no problem with the way they do their jobs. Boyd’s simply not fit for purpose. Also if we’re stuck with Boyd & Walker as key members of the Sky team next year God help us. BT did a great job with Scottish football and will be missed. For all the criticism they get Thompson & Stewart are also miles ahead of that Sky outfit.

Disagree - would rather listen to Thompson & Stewart any day than Boyd & Walker. They’re both dreadful.

The fact that there is as much comment here about Boyd only serves to justify his position within the TV companies ideals.
Me? I never watch any pre/after show and often watch games with no volume. problem solved

Walker, Boyd, Craigan and Alex Rae are the worst pundits on the go just now. Boyd and Rae struggle with coherent sentences.

Considering the amount of money i pay for Sky to be treated with that embarrassing mouthpiece is shocking. Normally i go to as many away games as i can but never got one so had to watch it.

He is no way intelligent enough to be compared to Sutton for a start.

That's cause Boyd winds you up though, that's his raison d'etre on sky.

So he's doing it well clearly.

who are we specifically talking about here?

Boyd - It is the suicide of his brother that would have made me think he could have been more sensitive over the issue.

Ofcom has received a load of complaints, who knows what will come of it though.

I like big Kris seem like a top bloke.

I didn't hear what he said about the Celtic guy/

It interesting to read a bunch of thick guys on a football forum pointing out they don't think such a pundit is clever or has the intellect to do the job

Its fitba being discussed, nobody playing it or talking about has put their Philadelphia legal career on holf FFS.

Not all JA posters are thick, only a large proportion of them.
In most cases I can vouch they are as bright/dim in real life.

When people use the "whitabootery" angle it just means they are trying to avoid the question.

Boyd was well out of order on a number of fronts as a presenter the other night. He let his emotions run away with him. He got angry and lashed out. His stats were simply just wrong (pretty much a basic requirement for a sports commentator) and he decided for his own reasons not to take in the consideration of clear and obvious mental health in Griffiths case.

Particularly when he is a patron (?) of a mental health charity and has direct family experience of the potential awful consequences.

For his own good he should take some time out. His anger management and clear bias is just ruining any decent stuff he might come out with.

Ex players will always have a loyalty to the club and fans who paid them and they do say things to get the phones ringing, the comment count up and elicit controversy, but he went way beyond the pale on Wednesday. To ignore that and not call it out for what it is, is churlish in the extreme.

Not sure the insult at the end furthered your point.
