He promised the first team squad the time off apparently

The players getting their promises break you can sort of half understand but what’s his excuse for not managing? He fancies a holiday?

Don’t agree with this at all and I hope he reconsiders.

Don't see why the players who played tonight can't play, as well as players coming back from injury, like Keita and Milner. Take out Fabinho.

Adrian
Williams
Matip
Lovren
Milner
Chirivella
Jones
Keita
Elliott
Origi
Minamino

Give the first team players the time off and put the youth players on the bench.

I'm sure the above players would be busting to play anyhow.

Seems more like a protest to me.

Good on him

He reminds me of a certain young Brian Clough - speaks honestly, blatant and does things the way he wants them to be done - some call it psychology...some may say he’s even too cocky...I just like to think, he knows what’s needs doing, he won’t be dictated to, and if if statements ruffle a few feathers, well his words will speak for themselves on the pitch

Well done mate, keep up the brilliant work

Just read what Klopp said on club website and I agree with his position now , he’s clearly making a point to the fa

In April 2019, we got a letter from the Premier League where they asked us to respect the winter break, not to organise international friendlies and not to organise competitive games in respect of it.

Premier league v FA..

Nowt to do with Liverpool

All the Richard Keys' of this world are going to have a breakdown over this.

Bit pig headed of him that statement, don’t draw the match today if you wanted a break for the players, but for him to not want to manage the team, he’s hanging them out to dry

Yeah I think he wanted to win the game today, not draw it. He's not hanging them out to dry, they will be managed by the manager who has managed them all season.

Midseason break was already planned. Wtf do you expect him to do?

The FA winter break as agreed, contractually gaurentees players a break of at least 13 days.
Sounds like more of a feck up by the FA, than Klopp simply being pig headed.

What happened the last time the U23 manager ran the youth team against Villa? This will give shrewsbury a huge boost for the replay
Imagine the lift those young players would get if Klopp was there even with Critchley as assistant

"Look, our situation is the following: we have known that for a couple of weeks it is like this. Actually, we knew it a bit longer because it was always clear when we came through into the next round it would be like this. In April 2019, we got a letter from the Premier League where they asked us to respect the winter break, not to organise international friendlies and not to organise competitive games in respect of it. I have said to the boys already, two weeks ago, that we will have a winter break, so it means we will not be there – it will be the kids who play that game because they cannot deal with us like nobody cares about it. I know it is not very popular, but that’s the way I see it and, how I said, the Premier League asked us to respect the winter break and that’s what we do it. If then the FA do not respect it then we cannot change. But we will not be there."

Klopps needs to respect the fans and manage the game no matter what team he chooses.

He needs to realise he doesn't have 11 kids to play the thing and get real.

This was always going to eventually happen.he mentioned this back in december. Looks like he has decided to make a stand.

If the FA really wanted all clubs to have this long awaited winter break, then why are they scheduling replays for this exact same week?

They facked us up in the league cup by not moving the fixture against Villa, now they're doing the same with the FA Cup

Anyone smell anything?

It wont be acceptable as far as I am concerned if he plays that team which got hammerd against Villa. Rest rest the crown jewels but the reserves and injury returned players need to play. Mini has already had a winter break and the rest badly need game time.
