Some thoughts from last night

Last season it wasn't team fitness that let us down, it was mistakes in the last few games!..

And that last game was a game of mistakes, one of them games where the players should bow their heads in shame!..

This season gives the team a chance of correcting mistakes of the past!..

I agree Spanish. I like Douglas. Not sure why he's
not cementing a first team place? He's our only real
left back and he can't get in. Odd.

--------------

he has his flaws Batts, he's hardly Roberto Carlos, but I don't actually think we've seen the proper Douglas yet.. I do think he still has a place.. seems more level headed in defence over Alioski, and we've been poor at set pieces all season, I think he'd improve us in that respect.

oh and I loved your come back on the match thread last night mate... proper Leeds fan you are pal.. all my mates were the same

HT.. bottle jobs, no balls, Bielsa needs a plan B

FT.. their all on the phone to west Yorkshire riding booking the open top bus.

I don’t know if we ran out of steam last season.

I do know than when you run out of steam, your footwork goes, you’re not in right position for right technique, you’re not mentally sharp, you make more mistakes.

What we saw end of last season was a lot more mistakes.

Still keen to understand why people thing that people who are in football professionally feel Bielsa teams run out of steam yet they feel that they don’t.

I think the key to our success this season will be in how Bielsa manages Poveda and Agustin, and integrates them into the first team set up. No surprise that Bamford upped his game with Agustin's arrival on the scene. Can Bielsa get them working together, and for each other, in the run-in?

We saw two sides of Ayling last night - the defending at the back post for their headed goal was abysmal, whereas his cross for Saint Patrick's winner was immense.

The team are just fitter than most and can run for longer, every single one of the 24 teams in this division have the same games to play. No excuses on fitness and for me, we just didn't have the quality to get over the line last season.

This season the division is weaker and I think we will now go on to win the league.

Dead right. If players only going to get 5 mins at end of game it’s not enough.

However at hand time if Augustin in brnch would have been calls to bring him on.

One hope Bielsa realised what hasn’t worked in past hasn’t worked and to at least consider what could be tweaked to make it work this time.

... so we need to put the chances away and be out of sight by 60 minutes then the newbies can get game time with impunity.

My hunch, I suspect it will be a 4 way fight for
promotion...WBA, Notts Forest, Brentford and us...
so 2 from 4 for automatic promotion.
Leeds are fulfilling my prediction of inconsistency,
that's not really criticism, it's the way teams are in
this division...it's a long, tough season.
The paradigm for Leeds is plain to see for me from
last season...2nd part of the season we will probably
see an occasional great display but quite a few
points dropped from indifferent displays, the
inconsistency of the team just the same as the
2nd part of last season.
Of course the team could go on a really good run of
results and make promotion easier to achieve but
none of us can really predict the future with much
confidence, a case of really wait and see.

If we do achieve promotion then a replacement for
Bamford is essential for me...Premier defences will
be far too hard for him to make an impression, it's
hard enough for him in this division.
Leeds can get a better striker than him...his shooting
is bad...last night a striker with a clubfoot and blind
could have scored those goals yet reading this board
you would think he was some spectacular goalscoring
machine...he doesn't deserve the loyalty and misplaced hype...he misses far too many chances to
be an iconic player.

Read some poor stuff on this thread

Douglas is injured.

League is weaker - well it contains 18/24 teams that were in it last season!

Bamford didn’t up his game. He’s been excellent all season bar some missed chances. The two goals were absolute golden chances from a yard or 2 out - these are the chances people have moaned about him missing. We simply created better chances as a team last night.

No issues with bamfords reaction. Roofe and Wood have both done similar. The issue is the morons in the crowd who spend their energy slagging off players and referees rather than backing the team. I hope his reaction hits home with a few fans.

Still to see conclusive evidence ball was out of play. In any case alioski gave away the penalty not the referee.

Agree with this.

On the point of bamford, said before I think he’s a championship player and still think he has a role to play to see us promoted. Interesting to see what Bielsa doesn’t with JKA

I don't know why it's so hard to find conclusive evidence, took me 10 seconds.

Me too. Watched it hundreds of times over. Needs a side on view and freeze frame for conclusion.

10 seconds to find the same shot we have already seen that does not conclusively prove the ball was 100% over the line.

I've got no problem with Bamford's reaction whatsoever

The only true way to see it is an along the line view!..

Camera angles if not right can sometimes give a false impression!..

I sit in the west stand now, it was 30 yards from me and it so far over the line it was having a pint in the peacock, like the bloke said

Refs decisions with goal kicks were abysmal, no excuses for those.

Spot on Germany. Last time I looked the ball was round!
Impossible to tell from that clip

I thought his celebration was more because of the noise, but fair play to him, the entire fan base has been asking for a new striker for weeks to replace him. Healthy competition is what is needed.
