how often have you seen him play?

I think he is potentially good enough, but it is a big transition and some fans have been a little blinded by his stats.

Excited about the signing, but, as you say, expectation should be reigned in a bit.

Just once live, highlights mostly.

I don't see him as our saviour, although I take your point.

Players without PL experience will often need some time to adjust.

honest answer.... so how can you say you dont think he is that good?

No one thinks he’s a saviour

He is however one more midfielder closer to what we need

Because you dont need to watch 200 full games to judge

And the weird thing is that no-one knows if he’ll be good enough but if you base it solely on highlights he is very good. That’s the best part of the signing - the excitement from the highlights ✌️

the guy has 15 goals and 14 assists in 25 games this season and 32 goals and 18 assists in 53 last season... while he may not be a saviour the guy can clearly finish and thats something we havent had for god knows how long in the middle of the park.

he could fail...or he could go onto be our own frank lampard

I didnt say it was going to result in average highlights? or anything remotely resembling that.

We got a shocking midfield. If he stays fit, I can see Fernandes and Greenwood+Martial scoring a bucket load of goals. We have been playing with no decent midfielder for most of the season. I think there has been bideo analysis that poor players like Fred and our defenders can’t pick out easy forward runs most of the time.

Thats why Martial while not being great is getting frustrated and snatching at things when chances come away from home and even at home as the midfield don’t give him enough time on the ball.

Optimistic as ever Red tom

I happen to share your view on this one, although the times I've seen him live have been for Portugal where he looks poor.

I'm excited based on his youtube highlights though.

"the guy can clearly finish and thats something we havent had for god knows how long in the middle of the park."

A little unfair on Pogba, who plays deeper but when given the reign to get into the box has always looked dangerous.

without penalties pogba averages about 7 goals a season. the bloke isnt pulling up tree's in that department.

posted on 29/1/20

You know Man Utd midfield is poor when he will look streets ahead of what we have.

posted on 29/1/20

He shouldn't feel too much pressure tbh, look at our midfield options? Hardly stiff competition.

He should have the belief he will be our best midfielder, and certainly statistically our highest scoring/assisting one. If he doesn't have that mentality, we shouldn't have signed him. (if we do )

Because he's playing too deep. When he is given the license to make runs into the box he scores goals, see his time at Juve and when Ole arrived.

Only if you're expecting a similar output to what he has been producing in Portugal which nobody should be expecting because he won't return those sort of numbers in the Premier League.

Is he the first openly gay player in the PL?

posted on 29/1/20

Just imagine what it will be like if we sign him

posted on 29/1/20

What are we allowed to expect?

15 goals/assists combined before the end of the season?

posted on 29/1/20

I don’t think he’ll be under that much pressure. For the moment he just needs to be a decent upgrade on Lingard and Pereira for now.
