Whats that old adage 1972, strengthen while you are on top
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes - strengthen with quality - a guaranteed starter - a marquee signing if you will. Don't blow it on a succession of 'projects' who may or may not work out.

You do get the difference - don't you?

Have to disagree Duke Cosgrove in particular could play centrally in a 433
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well have seen him play in that set up ?
He is the most obvious 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 man out the lot

He is a decent player but not in our set up at the level we need
Kamberi is much more mobile can come from inside forward positions to much more effect
He will do ok

100%
And you have done different how ???
Just because everyone you buy becomes a first team player for a while does not mean they were marquee infact you won a title the last time you even signed a marquee
Playing everyone right away is just because you dont trust who you have , there is no forward planning its trying to buy a title on a budget , good luck with that

Ok will cede to to your opinion as you will likely have seen more of him than myself

So what about Shankland have to be honest and havent seen a DU game since they went down

Thinking back now one thing that does come to mind with Cosgrove in the games against Celtic is how deep he is so often
not sure if this is reflective of perhaps Aberdeen as a whole being pushed back

No - this is utter guff. Not everyone you buy becomes a first team player and not what I said.

Not actually sure what the rest of what you said means TBH - maybe if you stopped whacking the keyboard and calmed down then you could construct something legible.

Fantastic championship goal scorer
Time will tell on him
He is possibly a 2 million player right now so out the question

Someone with money will take the punt on him doing it at a higher level

posted on 1/2/20

Yeah like I said I havent seen him play bar the Scotland game. You always wonder when no one has gone in given he has been turning it on for a few years now

1972 drop the having to finish with an insult mate we are just talking fitba

posted on 1/2/20

It's not really an insult - I genuinely can't make out what you are saying:

You know this is where I think we both still eff up. Spanish and portugese clubs are great at it and have been for decades they buy prospects loan them out and see if they dont come up to scratch for first team they get flogged at profit.
Man city and Chealsea being following the same route for the last 10 years or so, might not guarantee a star but the profit dont hurt

In Rangers' case - we have thankfully got/are getting rid of, the remnants of the 'bhanter years' so most of ours are young guns out getting some game time.

No idea about Celtic though.

yeah thats not what I mean though these clubs have like 40 out on loan and not talking mega cluibs like MC or CHeaslsea Porto Benfice etc do it and we have budgets similar to thiers
Granted the thing they have is access to the south american market through not being restricted by UK regs and obviously cultural links

posted on 1/2/20

We concentrate on loaning out our academy players they buy with the intention of never playing them just making a profit

Celtic may have - Rangers come nowhere near Porto or Benfica's available budgets.

It’s scale of finance
Man City will buy a guy for 10 mill then loan him out

That’s not going to happen in Scotland

posted on 1/2/20

Brings up the Celtic and Rangers B again I guess as thats how they showcase them in European leagues

Don’t get this to be honest.

Kamberi is being brought in on loan as cover isn’t he? Nothing more. He’ll give that should Morelos get injured or banned before Defoe recovers and he’s better than what they have. All seems quite sensible to be fair.

Hagi is a complete unknown. Belgian football is at a very high standard so I’m not reading too mush into his lack of game time with a very good side like Genk. He’s commanded an €8m fee so there has to be something.

Can’t see him hitting the ground running thankfully has again just down to game time; but it wouldn’t surprise me if he was the real deal. Just hope it’s not this season or next I’d we win this one.

Loads off the books so I’d suggest the bears have had a better transfer window than us.

Last year Porto sold Militao for £45m to Real Madrid.

Felipe was sold for £18m to Atletico Madrid.

Last Benfica sold Felix to Atletico Madrid for £113m.

Jiminez was sold to Wolves for £33m

Absolutely nowhere near comparable!

posted on 1/2/20

No but either of us offering 600k a season and a half ago for Shankland playing him in Rangers or Celtic b or loaned out it would now be us who would be getting a 4 or 5 fold return.
The profit will always be relative but the model is sound
