But if we play Sissoko we need Winks to retain possession.

Dont think Winks is very good at possession .... he's lightweight and gets knocked off the ball. Not a tough guy.
The team needs an enforcer in the middle, someone who wins the ball and takes it forward with power to withstand challenges .... Sissoko is your man, great teamate for Lo Celso.
And we've yet to see how NDombele works out.

I know Winks isn't a hardman Ted, but 90% pass completion is not be sniffed at.

Besides, my comment was more a tongue-in-cheek reference to Sissoko's first touch. He great driving forward with the ball but his end product is chite, and positionally he's a disaster. I would like to see him rotated with Aurier for the rest of the season. Let the actual footballers (Winks, GLC and Ndombele) take the lead in midfield.

Bottom line is I don't dislike either Winks or Sissoko, but neither are really going to push Spurs forward to challenging at the very top.

Problem is sissoko doesnt want to just sit there as holding midfielder hes naturally box to box and simply isnt good enough on the ball for a professional footballer

I would have liked us to have signed someone like Sander Berge to add pressure on Winks. such a huge shame Wanyama cant be out back together.

Ndombele Lo Celso
Wanyama

would have been immense

Spot on.

If Winks isn’t the answer then Sissoko isn’t either. To be the base of a midfield three you need to have actual football ability to take the ball under pressure and move it on.

Check out Ibrahim Sangaré. He’d be a decent alternative to Berge

Mad how good his control and technique are considering when he runs it looks like his legs are being controlled by two different people. Proper gangly.

Not sure about Winks but Ndombele and GLC should go on to be regulars with us. It's a shame we've seen so little of them together due to injuries and tactics. Obvious quality is obvious.
