Because, TOOR, a stated protest imo would on one hand demand more respect and understanding for not being there and make it more of a debate about whether it’s a reasonable thing to protest about.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why does he have to state it? His comments and actions did that. He doesnt actually have to say "This is a protest".
Arouna trying to make Everton relevant..
I do not honk Klopp is right by the way.
This winter break was commissioned with revenue in mind. Hence why it was staggered amongst clubs.
Klopp probably thought they could go a money spinning tour somewhere.

Eh? What’s wrong with that?
I honestly thought you were better than this. Must be remembering it wrong.
Its obvious from his actions that he is absolutely at odds with the scheduling. Anyone that needs that spelled out is a bit stupid.
It's obvious he thinks the mid season break needs respecting, the FA cant ride roughshod over it. Played the kids who have their own manager.
Its not like he decided he had better things to do, and he obviously had the welfare of his team in mind.
Bravo Klopp single handedly ensured the FA wont do the same again.

Ah. You mean it would look better on him and therefore would be perceived to have been handled better. Fair enough.
I can see that is a possibility. Also it is a possibility that he is punished. Perhaps by the FA, by media which hunt etc.
I'm happy with how he handled it. I would have done it differently, ie played the fringe players and some u23s but then I may not have achieved what I believe he will, which is the FA helping the clubs further next season. So with the team winning and if the protest works, we got the best of both worlds.

No I don’t and if you try reading my posts you’ll see that’s clear.
My point was that he should have made it more official with the FA, communicated after the night of the Shrewsbury game.

Well yes, it’s each to their own, no right or wrong here.
The pro of that approach is that we wouldn’t be debating if he was obliged to attend, which I think he was.
I also think it came across a bit like he was reacting a hurt the first game rather than something pre planned, which also doesn’t help.
So the FA already knew it was a protest.. he didnt have to say anything more as to his objectives.
I think the fa tried to "punish" liverpool by withholding broadcast of the game - which only served to disenfranchise Shrewsbury and Lfc triumphed anyway.
FA will need to give in on this one and sort it out for next season.
Well done Klopp for leading the charge on this one, and to he honest only he or Guardiola would be the ones high profile enough to be able to do it.

Clearly we will never agree on this and that is also fine.
My main issue was the childish ‘opposition fans crying’ stuff.
I don't think anybody is debating if he was obliged to attend, just that it wouldn't be a good protest if he did.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Redinthehead is.
-------
He didnt have an obligation to attend, especially as it wasnt the team he was responsible for (first team) that was playing.
Unless you're saying that every manager should be attentive doing every fixture regardless of if their first team is playing or not.

Why does he have to state it? His comments and actions did that. He doesnt actually have to say "This is a protest".
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He doesn’t have to.
But imo it’s an official protest if he says it is and not otherwise, and imo that changes things.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What does it change?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
See above.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well yes, it’s each to their own, no right or wrong here.
The pro of that approach is that we wouldn’t be debating if he was obliged to attend, which I think he was.
I also think it came across a bit like he was reacting a hurt the first game rather than something pre planned, which also doesn’t help.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't think anybody is debating if he was obliged to attend, just that it wouldn't be a good protest if he did.

Because, TOOR, a stated protest imo would on one hand demand more respect and understanding for not being there and make it more of a debate about whether it’s a reasonable thing to protest about.

If you don’t see the difference then fine.
Clearly we will never agree on this and that is also fine.
My main issue was the childish ‘opposition fans crying’ stuff.

Redinthehead is.

He didnt have an obligation to attend, especially as it wasnt the team he was responsible for (first team) that was playing.
Unless you're saying that every manager should be attentive doing every fixture regardless of if their first team is playing or not.
