Grealish for us @£45 million

Sancho to Chelsea @£120 million

Werner to Liverpool @£50 million
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you are probably right about Sancho and Werner, but Grealish for £45m? I'd be very surprised. We just spent £80m on Maguire and £50m on AWB. Why would Villa sell him to us for that price?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He apparently has that as a release clause
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh right, I hand't heard that. We should deffo be in for him at that price then. Sell Pogba and play him and Bruno ahead of Fred/McT.

At this point I'd probably sell Martial as well and look to bring in a RWF and a CF, using Greenwood and James as backup.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Elvis , I’ve know you on these boards for nearly 10 years. And we’ve agreed and disagreed many times. Sometimes I’ve wanted to filter you, sometimes I wanted to invite you to my wedding.

But I have never been as shocked as the comment I just read. I need to go grab a camera to take a snapshot

‘At this point I’d probably sell Martial’

I never thought I’d see the day!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I still rate him highly. And I suspect that if he does leave that he will probably do well wherever he goes. But it isn't working out for him at United. We have tired him through the middle, but is hasn't worked out. He isn't prepared to attack the 6 yard box, and there have been too many times this season that balls have flown across that area and he has been jogging around at the edge of the box. His best position is on the left and if there was a place there for him he'd keep him. But Rashford needs to be there and he is ahead of Martial for me, so I think it is time to accept that we would be stronger as a team if we got rid of him and signed a CF. What I wouldn't give for Bobby Firminho.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I did want us to sign Firmino from Hoffenheim back in the day. Did LVG listen to me? Hell no!

Martial is so frustrating. We all know he’s got talent but he’s not even at Nani levels let alone the level of consistency we’d ideally have at the club.

I would keep Martial to provide some competition/cover for Rashford on the left flank, whilst also being an option if need be at CF.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not sure how motivated he would be playing that role. If we can keep him happy like that then great, but I think that is unlikely.

Selling Martial because Rashford is currently better in his role would be daft though.

City bought Mahrez and Bernardo Silva even though they had Sane and Sterling ripping it up on the wings.

We have much worse players closer to the first team than Martial.

If he kicks up a fuss and cannot win his place back and wants to leave it’s a different matter, but we shouldn’t sell otherwise.

We need completion between top players for each position, not one starter and one that we hope never has to start as back up.

I agree withe the sentiment Mike, but it is hard enough getting the lad to run when he is happy. I can't see him putting the effort in if he is demoted to a squad place.

Yeah I’m shocked at how quickly Elvis has given up on Martial and Rashford being our number 9.

I’m not really Martial’s biggest fan, but what I will say regarding his future as a striker for us is that he is still yet to play in an attacking team that plays with any quality and cohesiveness.

While we can debate ad nauseam the reasons why he hasn’t played in such a team, much like Pogba, I think we can all agree this isn’t a luxury he’s enjoyed since being a United.

With Martial and Rashford two of the few players in the team with any chemistry on the pitch, and the Nani shaped hole on our right wing, it may be detrimental to be binning off Martial just yet despite the flaws he has as a player.

We need more quality in the squad, not to keep getting rid of the players we have that do possess any. Like we’ve seen this season, it backfires when you do that.

I’ve seen some on here suggest Kane and Aubameyang.

Don’t think either is possible but both would be expensive mistakes imo.

Why would Harry Kane be an expensive mistake? He’s arguably the best striker in the country.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
He hasn’t been that great for a while now and seems to pick up a longish term injury every season.

Still quality and I may be proven wrong but I feel the best has already come with Kane.

posted on 11/2/20

He’s still a quality striker. He’s had a few issues with injury but that doesn’t help when Spurs run him into the ground. There are very few strikers in world football as good as Harry Kane, he’s proven this year on year for six years now.

posted on 11/2/20

Yes I agree he is one of the best but for the last 2 seasons he hasn’t quite hit the heights of previous seasons.

I don’t think he’s a realistic option but if he was then Spurs would be asking for 150 million plus one would think.

Unless he gets back to the level he was 2 years ago paying that would be madness.

Playing in an underperforming team with injury issues it’s hardly surprising. I find it odd that people forget that even world class players can have dips in form from their peak only to recover and start performing back at their peak level again. Look at Aguero as a great example.

Sancho will go for at least £150m I reckon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Just no sure who will pay that myself
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Chelsea just posted record transfer profits and need a right winger so if they get CL football I’d make them huge faves
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Would they eant Sancho with Pulisic and Hudson Odoi?

When did Aguero ever really dip? Injuries were his only problem.

posted on 11/2/20

Take his injuries away and Kane is probably one of the most valuable players in the world.

posted on 11/2/20

Last season, Pep’s first season and his second season at City. He’s had injury issues and team problems that have hampered his seasons at City but has usually responded with better performances when the team has improved. I don’t see Kane’s situation as any different bar playing in a worse team, and has yet to show he’s as injury prone despite the issues the last two years.

All top strikers in world football have dips in form over the years. Kane is just in his due to injuries and an underperforming team.

I worry that City will go for him to replace Aguero. He’ll kill it there.

posted on 11/2/20

Nah. City have already said they are searching worldwide for Agueros replacement. No way will they pay £150m for Kane.
