Jordan Henderson - FANS POTY 2020

Gerrard was immense and had way more natural ability than henderson. One thing henderson excels over Gerrard, and all the pages of other players with more natural ability, is discipline.

It's way under rated and what a team needs to win. He is obviously also a good player in almost all areas of his game, although it's fair to say he doesn't excel as the best any particular area either.

Massively under rated compared to more eye catching players, and people forget hard work and discipline is priceless in today's game. If you saw ravel morrison as a kid and where he is now you'd never mock it's value

Klopp on Jordan Henderson in July 2019:

"We play Jordan Henderson in the position least likely to affect our attack or defence, our two main strengths, we keep him out of the way, if you will"

Just going by what the manager says

yes i read that too. pottery digest wasn't it?

Has to be TAA for me. He should win both young player and the older category for me. But it me there seems to be at the moment a push from the media for Jordan to win it. Bit like Sterling over Van Dijk last season.

For me, it’s Virgil Van Dijk - and by some margin.

There are players haven’t excellent Premier League campaigns but Virgil is having another Ballon D’orr year.

He is imperious week in, week out. A born leader who has chipped in with crucial goals.

I was watching ESPN the other day and one of them hit the nail on the head when he suggested that KDB had gone missing in too many games this season. I completely agree - although he has put in some breathtaking displays.

Van Dijk has been practically perfect from week 1.

Captain Hendo top of the league, champion of Europe and the World.

I'd rather have him than Carlton Pogba in the team. Mancs would disagree, hence why they're 8th

I understand what the OP is saying, in that, Hendo really leads by example on and off the pitch. Clubs player of the year would be fitting when others will get accolades from other professional bodies.

Good for you

Ask most managers around Europe who they’d rather have and the answer will be a lot different

Oof biting early this morning..

You're not right at all, you're hardly likely to be either in your catering manager role.

He's been playing out of his skin since November and quite rightly one of the best players in the league since.

Whether that's enough to make him POTY is anyone's guess. Trent, Van Dijk & Alisson have been just as good if not better in that same time.

While City haven't been at their best, De Bruyne & Aguero have still been doing their thing on the field. Mahrez seems to have been overlooked by everyone this season as well.

Pereira of Leicester is another one that's been overlooked.

I'll put Henderson in the same boat as Ndidi...crucial to their team but will only ever be appreciated by their own set of fans.

I'll bet you professionals in the game appreciate these players far more than fans.

I seriously doubt many players spend their spare time watching other teams' players.

Maybe the odd balls like City with us because they're obsessed...other than that I really doubt it.

It was interesting listening to an interview with Klopp in 2018 when he was asked about the requirement to have 3 British players in the team to keep the English media happy. He said that he would fill what he saw as the least important positions in the team with the 3 British players. He even joked, saying that he bets that the English media will still big up the full backs and the headless chicken central position as the most important now just because there are British players there now.

He was right to be fair.

That's what I love about Klopp. Honesty 24/7/365.

Needless to say that interview was not with the English media or he wouldn't have openly mocked them like that, along with English players. It was with a German outlet. They had a right good laugh about English footballers and their natural lack of talent. I translated the interview myself for your convenience.
