Dunno, they had title winning home form at WHL the season before they left (17 wins and 2 draws from 19 games as well as 47 goals) and the season after they had the second best away form in Europe
Maybe they wouldn’t have won the league but I feel they would be looking at 90+ points

I cant see City moving for him tbh.
Ridiculous punishment btw.

I really don’t see where people get where Poch is a top manager. He’s decent, but suited to teams with limited ambition.
Also, I think City will get it overturned

I wonder where Liverpool would be now if in 2017/2018 the club said no more money so no Allison and VVD and they had to play at a neutral venue for nearly two seasons
That’s pretty much what happened with Poch when he and Spurs were beginning to build a very good side

It’s scary you see the world as black and white as that
But prior to Klopp winning the league Wolfsburg, Werder Bremen, Stuttgart and Dortmund had all won the league in the 2000’s. Bayern were winning more than most, but it was a lot more competitive back then than it has this decade.
Since this turned into a Poch thread. Believe he should have won PL that year instead of Leicester and put a better display in that CL final. These two factors added I can agree that he isnt a guarantee success like the likes of Klopp or Pep, unfortunealy.

I even remember Bolton drawing 2-2 in a Uefa Cup game in Municg around 2008 so Bayern we're the force they are now.
Watching the Dortmund game now. Sancho is so good. Playing everywhere. Left, right and centre. Reeeeeally hope we get him. Will be our best signing since RVp imo

You won’t back Ole because you want better. I totally get that 100%. But because I don’t rate Poch then I’ve got a skewed understanding of life? If you want better than Ole, then look for a winner with a winners mentality. It’s what managers like Pep, SAF and Klopp have in abundance and it’s infectious with the clubs they’re at. Poch won’t change our club, he’ll do what he did at Spurs.

You do l ow they just got a 2 year European ban for being so well ran.
People overstate the winning mentality of managers. Only Trappatoni has more Serie A titles than Max Allegri. But he didn’t win anything until he went to Milan. Was he a winner with a winning mentality before that? That winning mentality left obviously when he got sacked as Milan went to shiiiiiiit.
Mourinho’s winning mentality didn’t do a great deal for us. Nor Van Gaal’s. Winners aren’t winners until they are.

15 out of 21 is a bit more than ‘more than most’. It might not be a complete monopoly by definition but it’s pretty one sided. The point I trying to make is that Klopp was a winner. You could argue that he had a touch of the SAF at Aberdeen about him.

I agree
Put Poch in charge of PSG or Celtic for 5 years and he has 5 league titles and a ‘winning mentality’
Right now we’re not even looking for a title winning potential manager. We need someone to do the work and get us at the very least consistent and competent. Maybe Poch can take an extra step but if at the very least he can get us to as far as he took Spurs before he left that’s way better than what we are now
But more than most I mean they’ve won five of the previous nine, with four other clubs winning one each. You cannot say he broke the monopoly and include the last ten years as an example of this dominance from that period. And it’s nothing like SAF at Aberdeen.
Klopp is excellent and done an excellent job at Dortmund, no doubt. But let’s not make things up to try and further a point.
Rob, yeah I agree with that.

Put what ever spin you want on it. I said Bayern won 15 of the last 21 league titles in Germany. Klopp won 2 of the others.
He’s come into Liverpool and changed their whole mentality. Just won a European trophy and on the way to a league title, their first in 30 years.
Yep, absolutely nothing like SAF.
You said he broke up the monopoly and used the last eight years to try and support that claim, you’re the one using the spin here. When in actuality the ‘monopoly’ was being broken up every second or third year in the preceding nine years. Which isn’t comparable to what Alex Ferguson did in breaking up a duopoly in Scotland.

But prior to Klopp winning the league Wolfsburg, Werder Bremen, Stuttgart and Dortmund had all won the league in the 2000’s. Bayern were winning more than most, but it was a lot more competitive back then than it has this decade.

Pochettino becoming better the longer he's out of work.
I cant see City moving for him tbh.
Ridiculous punishment btw.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This.
I really don’t see where people get where Poch is a top manager. He’s decent, but suited to teams with limited ambition.
Also, I think City will get it overturned
----------------------------------------------------------------------
People were saying the very same things about Klopp
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They absolutely weren’t.
I don’t get your obsession with Poch. He’s achieved absolutely nothing of note. Klopp broke the monopoly in Germany. Trying to put Poch and Klopp on the same level is farcical.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Many people were doubting Klopp when he took over. Called him a bottler and didn’t want him at United etc
Trust me. Many people doubted him.
To say Poch has achieved nothing of note is actually laughable
----------------------------------------------------------------------
List his managerial achievements.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This isn’t a game of ‘list this, list that’
Unless you don’t have eyes, you can see what Poch did at Spurs. If you are so one dimensional that trophies won is the only way you can judge a manager than I wish you the best of luck in life
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So he’s achieved nothing then.
Bottled a final, and came third in a two horse race. That’s his achievements
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s scary you see the world as black and white as that
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You won’t back Ole because you want better.

Since this turned into a Poch thread. Believe he should have won PL that year instead of Leicester and put a better display in that CL final. These two factors added I can agree that he isnt a guarantee success like the likes of Klopp or Pep, unfortunealy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I’m certain if you put Poch in charge of City next season and they’ll push Liverpool all the way
