Arsenal currently have nine young players who might genuinely make the grade (Nketiah, Willock, Saka, Nelson, Guendouzi, Balogun, Martinelli, Saliba and Emile Smith-Rowe). Of those, there are at least 3 with genuine world class potential. I'd argue 4, if Nelson can finally begin to kick on. Chelsea have a similar number.

Youth is being handled better than a decade ago, with much less focus on hype and early lucrative contracts and 18 year old super Jack's playing 45 games in a season. Doesn't mean the talent isn't there.

Lol I actually forgot Ainsley Maitland-Niles. 10. We have 10 players who should make the grade. And that's ignoring the talents lower in the youth ranks like Azeez.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What grade are you referring to as other than Martinelli and perhaps Saka no one else will get in a PL CL team squad.

No it means other people aren't making the very good chances he is creating.

You can use the xG to knock his finishing but it at least shows he is getting good chances and it's a historically better measure of future production than actual goals because of that

The critiscm of his xGA is just non sensical though sorry

I still think those stats highlight his struggles rather than make impressive reading, he's missing the second most chances in the league per min and the assists he's providing aren't being converted, that will be to a degree down to him not being precise enough and to a further degree down to the player the chance falls to.

At least be brave enough to pull me up on whatever i'm being accused of talking rubbish about.

I'm giving my opinion on one of the highest rated, most hyped young english players in the PL and he's not justified that. Difficult to reason with posters when it's about their players because they are biased towards them.

There's too much in what you're saying.

I doubt you've watched half his appearances.
You mention goal stats but only for the pl. Didn't mention minutes either.
Keep mentioning his wage as if that has any say on a young player.
I'm struggling to see who has hyped him aswell? No chelsea fan that I know of. Most rate RJ and others higher.
And now accusing me of bias.
I could easily accuse you of the same. I very much doubt you've watched him this year. He hasn't been as exciting or as good as last year like i said, but the guy is coming off the back of a horrid injury.

posted on 17/2/20

Per game his stats are near enough around or better than traore of wolves who is being said to have a great season. Now odoi can improve of course but he hasn't been bad

Who has hyped him? The media for starters with the Munich move, which enabled him to get a huge contract from.....you guessed it Chelsea.

Big money = Big expectations, that's the case in football unfortunately.

Why would i be biased about a Chelsea player, i don't support any English club. My opinion on him is he's not lived up to expectations of 100k a week superstar youngster and that he makes far to many poor decisions and that he's got a long long way to go.

I still think he's a talent, just a vastly over-rated one.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Using stats from transfermarkt again

CHO - 17 games, 1 goal, 4 assists
Traore - 25 games, 4 goals, 7 assists.

Chelsea have better players around him than Wolves do for Traore. I would also note that Traore's stats aren't impressive, his performances have been though.

posted on 17/2/20

You're being quite odd.
So the media has hyped him up by reporting that bayern munich wanted him, which they did? and rather than us let him go like matic, de bruyne, salah and others we gave him a decent contract...

Where is there the hyping up? He has a lot of potential but so do a lot of players.

And it seemed like your bias against chelsea because what you are saying doesn't make no sense.

not lived up to expectations at 19 years old, after rupturing his facking achilles
hahaha.

again twisting it slightly.

Odoi goals per minute in pl - 770 not great
assists - every 192.5 minutes

Traore goal every - 489 minutes
assists - every 280 minutes.

Traore = fantastic season
Odoi - pretty bad according to you.

if odoi scores tonight or within his next couple of games, his goals to minutes would be better than traore too.

you're saying game stats asif 10 of those weren't sub appearances after a horrible injury.
That's why it looks like you are biased. Either got a problem with chelsea or odoi strangely as what you are saying makes no sense and i doubt you've watched him this year

I did say Traore stats weren't great though.

Try not to get so butthurt when someone has something negative to say about one of your players.

Traore has stood out for breaking lines, not so much for his goal contributions but you're using his stats as some comfort blanket in regards to CHO.

It's like me saying well i'm as good looking as Chris Evans, the bar was low to start with.

Is wrong, in your opinion.

You see how this works. We come here, share opinions that other people may or may not agree with.

I admire the dedication in trying to convince me over a number of comments that my opinion should mirror yours though. Would be a boring place if it did though

Oh i'm always open to others opinions.
Even if you said he has been average I would have conceded. But it just seems you do not know what you are talking about.
On this very thread i've said I rate Reece James higher out of all our youth players too.

It's just wrong. But each to their own.

posted on 17/2/20

So you would have agreed he's been average but cannot fathom how someone else could say he's been poor/not lived up to expectations.

I do agree with the Reece James shout, very good player and going to get even better.

I suppose you've watched a lot of Arsenal's games at a senior level as well as having followed the youth players for years in the development squads and you've been keeping up to date with the likes of Leeds, Huddersfield, Saint Ettiene and Hoffenheim?

Or perhaps you're just posturing. Hard to tell.

No need to get touchy. If we had hopes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles making the grade in my team I would be very worried.

Brewster in a month has already matched Nketiah championship goal tally while playing for Swansea.
