Out of curiosity Rap, do you think City pre 2008 could of got to the position we are now via a different route?

I think we’ve come in for often fair criticism especially in the early days. But also some unfair criticism. Personally I think City are a product of where the game was in 2008, not someone who started it.

The approach the club have had has meant we’ve never had to sell our best players. That’s a huge advantage. And I’m not sure the same applies to clubs who try to do it “organically”. Whatever that means anyway.

I liked city pre-money - i thought they were really starting to build something. They wouldn't have got where they are now in the same time, maybe never, but they played good football and had some exciting players (if i remember correctly!)

You remember incorrectly 😂

We went half a season without even scoring at home before Thaskin!

“ It's impossible to know how much different things would've been - Chelsea were already skewing the transfer market, and to be fair, City just did what they needed to do.”

You can have a good guess though given how few different clubs had won the Prem pre 2008!

That's quite feasible these days!

Didn't you have a good youth policy with some great youngsters coming through?

elano, petrov was the Thaksin era he brought those players in. The end of that season ended with us on the verge of bankruptcy, a fire sale was imminent until at the 11th hour sheik Mansoor stepped in. Hamman was on his last legs and was released he was 35. We had some average young players who were not at the elite level only guys like Onouha and Richards, Shaun wright - phillips who had just returned to the club from Chelsea and Joe Hart were the only youngsters who made it. 2 maybe 3 possibly could of followed had we not got rid, and Sturridge chose to leave by rrefusing a new contract.

every one liked city "back in the day" because they were never a threat.
