Based it on the Wayne Rooney moments that Vidals talked about. Effortless skill. Maybe Deano is rose tinted glasses though.

Not Ravanelli. Not Andy Savage. But Dave Mackay and Charlie George.

Lots of good players named above, Wellies, but...
England's most capped outfield player, captain on 22 occasions, all time highest England goalscorer, 500 league games in England at a win rate of 57.6%, 211 goals, 105 assists, averaging a goal or assist in every 1.5 games. Internationally recognised star and one of Europe's best players this century.
It's no contest really. 🤔

Franny Lee did a great job in the twilight of his career.

He looked like a brickie who had been dragged out of the pub and loaned a kit a size too small.

My first time stood on the Popside was the Leeds game when he sold the ref a penno (which wound-up Norman Hunter somewhat). The rest is history, happy days.

'Question: who was the last proper legend to grace the ranks of Derby County?'

Depends how you interpret the question 🤔

My favourite player was probably Charlie George but it’s hard to be objective when you get nostalgic for the great days. I thought Kinkladze had astonishing skill though he played in a fairly nondescript Derby team. Baiano was a wonderful player. Asanovic was another player with huge talent.

Mackay, McFarland, Todd, Hector, Wright, Shilton, Stimac, Eranio. Great, great players. But for sheer technical skill, and putting to one side sentimentality for the old days, Rooney is the best I have seen.

Shelton should also be on the lists of legends.

And if we're having Charlie George, then let's not forget Nish too. This is one of my earliest football memories:

The rams breaking up an attack and one of the centre-backs lays a square ball to Nish on the left. George is already in motion, that lopeing run of his, tracking along the defensive line towards the left touchline. As Nish hits a 40 yard pass George curves his run and heads for goal. He doesn't even need to look. The ball comes directly over his shoulder, into his stride, so he doesn't have to slow at all, opposition offside trap looking foolish.

Great days.

I do wonder if there'll be a trend of top class players playing out there last few years in the Championship.

So many anti football teams a la Forest, in this league though, just set up to stop you from playing whereas the MLS you do get space to express yourself, not sure about the Chinese league haven't had a chance to check it out.

What rubbish, QPR had a lot more to do to score. What were Davies, Lowe and Hamer doing?.....Not a lot.
