Bielsa post Match

“Thinks it’s a kick, don’t know how serious “

He was still limping after the game but was walking around the pitch so looks positive!

When Kalvin had to come off, the original decision was to bring on Olly Casey. That was rapidly changed with the whole back five having to be rejuggled to come up with a plan that worked, only Cooper stayed where he started. We had a midfielder at right back, a right back at Right Centre back, a winger at Left back and a CB as defensive midfield. Only other option would have to bring Casey on, a player who has played for five minutes in 2018.
Later on Shackleton comes on for Pablo and though he is only on the pitch for 8 minutes gives the ball away every time he touches it.
The lack of depth in the squad is alarming.
Really hope Kalvin bounces back quickly

Only recall shackleton making 1 bad pass when breaking through middle and very tidy rest of time?

I didn't even think that pass was that bad, just expected a lot of Bamford who looked knackered and didn't have the energy to get on it.

Thought there were a few loose touches, but he's a young lad who hasn't played much. Can't expect him to be thoroughly up to the speed of the match.

Oh wow. Talking about making a mountain out of molehills.

We could do with a like for replacement for Phillips because Fordham is injured. But you have massively exaggerated what happened today.

There was a rotation of players into positions they have all played regularly bar White who was actually very good today.

I worry about lack of game time for shackletons development.

Wonder if next year when we go up a year on loan as a first team regular will do him more good then being a bit time player for us

He should have taken an extra touch or two to draw a defender out of position and create the space for the pass. These things happen though it’s a fast game and every player in our side will make mistakes every game. I wish people would understand this

Forshaw would naturally replace Phillips.
Every team struggles to fill a position when both players missing

I actually think Fordham’s is a natural 8 not a 4. And we have three 8s in Klich, Fordham’s & Shack. And only one 4 in Phillips which is why the side is a bit out of balance. As well as the fact that Fordham’s is out for the season obviously

We knew Forshaw was going to be missing, he was injured in Sep/October. Had a chance to get Phillips cover and we took the chancer route. Made our bed, now have to lay in it. I think Kalv will be ok but Tuesday might come too soon.

You can't just sign a player everytime you get an injury. Not financially viable.

Especially with the money we overpay players and the 5 year contracts for all policy

Was you at the game Lubo, if you were watch the last eight minutes again and you will see Shackleton gave it away nearly every time he touched it.
As for the original point. It could be argued positively that Bielsa's philosophy of players being able to cover more than one role is a good thing but without a doubt we look a different team with Kal out.
I would prefer we had enough options that we don't have to make do and mend.
We are already without Forshaw for the rest of the season, Bera until some time in March and if KP is out for any time things are very tight.

I was sat right in front of Shackleton a few times, and saw a few nervy touches. Didn't think it was anything that bad though.

I try to focus on the positives and not remember specific examples of negativity to talk about on here though.

Great to see him pumping up the South Stand, Pontus style, after the whistle.

We need someone like that on the pitch!
