City's FFP scenario

It was an extract - Feel free to read through the full treaty as it's obvious you have fek all else to do in your lives.

posted on 23/2/20

Another object of extraction is your brain if you think a complaint about UEFA can be taken to the ECJ no less by an entity/regime from the UAE governing a team in a non-EU country.

Wtf makes you connect those dots?

The OP was a little out there, however Boris has sent it to the twilight zone.

To be fair none of those dots are relevant anyway! We’re playing in a European competition organised by a European organisation who are bound by European law.

Uefa can be challenged at the ECJ, they have been a few times. It’s not relevant in this particular instance though, not yet at least.

Article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union prohibits the abuse by one or more undertakings of a dominant position within the internal market or in a substantial part of it, in so far as it may affect trade between member states.

How much would you pay Gimpson to be a researcher in any dispute case?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not exactly jumpers for goalposts, but I can imagine like his grandfather before him, Boris recounting tales to his grandchildren about what football was like when grandad was younger.
How in his day, Man City took UEFA to the ECJ, due to CAS not finding in their favour due to the UAE human rights abusing owners, falling foul of a breach of FFP.
Aye, those were the days.😂

UEFA make the rules of their competition.
Man City agreed to abide by those.

That’s all there is to it.

posted on 23/2/20

Yes, that’s why I said it’s not relevant in this particular instance.

If someone were to challenge the rules themselves though, that’s when something could go to the ECJ.

It’s not relevant in this instance, nor will it ever be.

ECJ would only become active where any rules would affect statutes that the EU guarantees for individuals, corporations or nations.

If Boris wants to show us where the EU by statute guarantees entities have a right to play in UEFA competitions let him do so now.

Over to you Boris.

So city's owners will want to set up a rival organisation which no doubt will have rules that will only benefit them, and they expect all the other european power house teams will follow suit

Pretty much. Do not think they would attempt to create such a breakaway set up however would be funny to see them try as per the above.

Basically only sovereign state backed clubs would join, and with that only the most authoritarian despotic and nepotistic regimes at that.

It would be like the meeting at the start of The Naked Gun 1

And can you imagine if they did bit make their "top 4". They will probably create a rule that says as they are the founding father they will always be in the top 4 regardless.

How do you sell a club that becomes worthless?
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Unbelievable that someone can come up with this scenario.
Juventus were done for match fixing. They took their demotion and came back up the following season.
If the worst case scenario happens, then we'll just take the 2 year ban and move on.
To suggest that the club would become worthless is kind of really strange.
