If they do that and go undefeated then down as the best premier league season ever, clearly.

In terms of best ever premier league team, depends how much longevity matters in your criteria, if it does then it'll be next season to assess that.

The greatest sides ever usually work in 3 or 4 year cycles. We started last season by winning the CL and getting 97 points.

No English side in history got 90+ points and won the CL.

The mid 1990s Utd side was incredible but I think the current Liverpool team must edge it. The standard of the Premier League these days is absolutely mind blowing in comparison to even the early 2000s

all this weakness of the league shiiiiiiiiiiit is just sour grapesthe quality of football is as good as ever however we're just a few cuts above the rest.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah, it's really not

Chelsea have Abraham up front, we have Martial up front, Spurs have Lucas Moura up front.

Compare that to having Van Nistelrooy, Rooney, Henry, Drogba, Costa, Van Persie, Bergkamp, Shearer, Owen etc... all around in the same era.

You can only beat what's in front of you so that takes nothing away from you achievement. But lets not pretend there are world class teams below you bar City at the moment and even they can't do it in Europe.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Seems a bit odd to leave out the likes of Mane, Salah, Aguero and Kane in the first section if you're going to compare across the eras.

Plus have you really just included Diego Costa in the same era as Henry, Shearer and Van Nistelrooy

what did city do 198 points over 76 games? 2.605 ppg
a team i personally consider best the prems ever seen.

Liverpool are counting last season and this are currently 176 over 65 2.707. Insane.

neville gives an insight how much stronger the prem is now.

If it gets the most piints then it's the best and I dont really see how anyone can argue otherwise.

Are Liverpool as entertaining as the Man United side of the 90s?

It'll likely score more goals, let less in and get more points so I think so.

the league is, as neville said, the games faster, fitness levels are much higher, the stats back it up the players are faster, they run further, theres more goals, more passes everything has gone up, considerably. The only reason you'd think otherwise is if you're blinded because your teams struggling in it at the time.

I do agree with this, if you win next season too it placates the people that think you have to retain it too though.

I enjoyed watching the Man United team more than I enjoy watching Liverpool.

But then I rarely watch English football anymore so I'm not the best judge of who is entertaining and who isn't. I find a lot of the games boring now in comparison.

I think if they win the Prem and champs league this year with a new record points total and go undefeated that would probably trump our treble team and 08 team. Let’s not forget they would be retaining the champs league too and have made 3 finals in a row. If they don’t win the champs league then they are behind both those teams still imo.

We’ve now won the same amount of games this season as the 03/04 Arsenal Invincible side “26”!

It’s February!

Pretty sure I read somewhere we equalled United league winning points tally in 99 as well.

Top 10, but they’ll need to retain it and go on to win three on the bounce to be counted amongst the very best.
