Actually no you wouldn't have had Dembele.

You would have had to pay Fulham compensation, compensation money that Dembele wanted in his wages rather than going to Fulham which will be part of the reason he chose Celtic.

BTW, Lewis Morgan - that was all a bit strange. Eventually, undisclosed fee but it dragged on. There’s no FIFA compo arrangement with other clubs and we saw the Cadden transfer cause ‘well some perceived financial loss. With the MLS growing all the time this could be more common.

FWIW, I know for a fact Miami tried to take a second player. They may still. Watch this space.

If your talking about potential, in regard to size of the club, it's brand potential, support etc, obviously the sky's the limit, but that wasn't how the article was framed.
It pretty much asked how the current champions of Scotland would fair in the prem, and I think they would struggle.

I think they would probably be relegated with their current squad.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Really? They are better than Norwich, West Ham, Watford, Bournemouth, Brighton, Villa and Palace as they are now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't talk nonsense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------Individually their players may not be as good but as a team I think they are better than that lot.

The interesting thing to me would be watching the current players as opposed to any perceived big name we brought in. There would be less room to have a howler and still get points. Who would raise their game and who would crumble? Perversely, I think Griff would love the bigger stage and screw the nut and be a hit.

Indeed, I think many non Liverpool fans forget that the Watford and Bournemouth etc of these days are better than Barca 2009-2011, and sacchi’s Milan. I’ve been corrected on this point by some of them.

If we'd been there for the past few years we'd probably still have Wanyama, dembele, VVD and Tierney. Add them to the current squad and it's enough to challenge for a CL place.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wanyama is finished anyway, Tierney has barely kicked a ball, Liverpool are still a bigger draw so VVD would be off.

You would still have Dembele, though Europa even would be a step too far imo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Vvd would maybe be off. Its like de gea. If he gets the cash he might have stayed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Everything would have been different for those players if they had stayed at Celtic. Maybe better, maybe worse but most likely they would have maintained or improved on their Celtic form.

Thai question gets trotted out every few months.

Most are sensible and know that with the finances the EPL would bring we’d have a fair to decent chance of being top 6 within a couple of seasons but would do well to stay in the league until then. Hey ho

And then there’s the usual crop who will simply look down on anything that isn’t within their immediate field of vision and just dismiss us because it suits their narrative.

They really aren't mate.

I quite enjoy watching Scottish football on Sky. It's got an air of the Sunday League about it which makes it feel raw and quite exciting, but if Rangers had to play a the teams you mentioned week in week out with their current squad they would struggle.

Don’t see outside the old form as any worse than championship to be fair. Aberdeen outplayed Burnley over two legs, only losing in extra time where they lacked the squad depth, but were easily the better side in both legs. Rangers knocked out Braga who took 4 points off wolves. I don’t watch a lot of it but done if the smaller teams in the league do have a Sunday league air about them, but the better ones aren’t as bad as people make out.

Sheff Utd are 6th and they were bang average in the championship last season. So Celtic could similarly well. Id say I would expect them to be battling relegation.
