Will delete my thread mate - you were first!!

Big test for us now. Shameful to take this long for a decision, shocking timing.

He looked brilliant with the ball at his feet.

He actually should have saved their shot for me

Yeah timings not right at all. Unless the club had already been informed.

If not then I wonder how much preparation Meslier will have had. It’s too late to do any now

It’s almost impossible to prove beyond reasonable doubt though

I’m sure they took that into account. It was always probable rather than possible with the FA.

“Balance of probability”

The FA yet again proving they completely unfit for purpose

Young keeper has a chance to impress but the senior players upfront have got to start taking their chances now and give the defence a break ffs

Perhaps this will trigger an "us versus them" mentality as we had in the -15 season and spur us on to smash everybody from here on in?

I think the response has to be keep calm and carry on.

It was rumoured that should he appeal the ban would not come into affect until the appeal was heard. The reports state that the ban is with immediate effect. The OS says nothing about an appeal so I would assume the ban starts tomorrow.
Anyone know different?

Totally agree with this, I can't help feeling that the FA have now labelled Casilla as a racist despite the fact that nothing has been proven without a doubt
Isn't that defamation of character

Not surprised, given our history with the FA. This decision has been telegraphed for a while, so Meslier should be ready. Casilla was a game saver against Boro, but we have to ask what did he do to get the charge in the first place, and what should he be doing to make amends for his behaviour. As much as we despair of the FA, these charges do not come out of thin air.

Let’s hope the club are reviewing his contract and have the power to sack him.

I don't feel the need to comment on the verdict as I don't know anything about it.

I do wonder if/how this has affected Casilla's performances as early season he was very secure.

If we could afford to lose one player, it would be Casilla as he has been so out of form for a long time.

Cannot help but feel the club could have pre-empt'ed this and signed an experience cover keeper.

A lot now rests on Meslier.

You would never be able to prove racist abuse unless it was overheard by the ref or caught on camera. So it's the correct decision in a sport (which doesn't have to act the way a court of law does) to back players who come forward with allegations of abuse. Otherwise it gives the green light for people to make these comments knowing nothing would happen.

What possible motivation would Jonathan Leko have to falsely accuse Kiko Casilla? Can't be an enjoyable thing to go through for Leko - name in media, comments on social media, travelling to give evidence etc. He has no motivation to do this falsely.

My issue with it is that they announce it on a Friday evening when we kick off in 16 hours. Announce it on a Monday morning when we have no game till the Saturday. Absolute farce.

Spot on. Completely agree.

I want to know what Cadillacs defence was. If he is saying it’s a complete fabrication. Or he has claimed he must have been misheard.

Foristieri was found not guilty of racism before this season and got banned by the EFL anyway.

It's clearly a flawed policy. If you're banning someone for something they could have done then what's to stop anyone from fabricating these things? Not saying that's true in this case, but definitely a flawed system that is open to abuse.

To be honest i think the whole thing is pathetic

If it's not said maliciously or in a derogatory way it's not racist, FFS he was only using the guys colour as an indication of who to mark (as i understand it)

Pretty certain that the ‘mark the black player’ quote was complete speculation and is not based on any evidence.
It first came from social media or a podcast as a ‘what if he said this.....’ and spiralled into fact.

However Kiko has released a statement stating that he Would never use his words with a fascist meaning.

This does actually work with the possibility that he said Mark the black player.

I would like and expect the Fa to release the evidence from both prosecution and defence.

This is the the thing now. No proof either way. One word against the other. And you know which side they are going to take.
We’ve just had it with McClean at Stoke. Yes he got dogs abuse. He turned his back on Remembrance Day. He also was winding the fans up during the game. And in his report he said the home fans in the East Stand were giving him it throughout the first half. Which was a lie. It was the Ponte that gave him stick.
It’s only gonna get worse.

The word for black in Spanish is "negre". Is the word "black" a racist term these days? - a genuine question. The word "negre" does have racist connotations in English but is this something that has been latched onto in the course of being lost in translation from Spanish?

Whatever the ins and outs of this, the timing of the decision is appalling.

The only surprise is that the buffoons in the suits at the FA didn't wait another 3 games to make their decision and effectively ban Kiko for the rest of the season.

Just once, it would be nice to complete a season without Leeds being involved in some controversy.

There is no place for racism in football or in any walk of life. Can only comment further when FA publish written statement on reasons why. If racist then 8 games is not enough for me.

But to tarnish someone’s name and reputation, and to jeopardise their career, on the balance of probability, is just wrong.

It’s about time the FA had a serious overhaul of disciplinary procedures.

AND a £60,000 Fine, Didn't FIFA fine one of their member clubs just £20,000 for serious Fan trouble involving true racism
The EA and EFL certainly know how to get money out of Leeds
