Meslier ?

Illan Meslier is the first teenage goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet on their #lufc league debut since Paul Robinson in October 1998 vs Chelsea.

Let’s get this straight! Meslier is a 20 year old (as of Monday) keeper who has been dropped into the most critical 10 games of this club for decades. I am reminded of the BPF situation when he played but was far from perfect, as we all know!
For better or worse, he is our keeper, effectively until we get promoted or fail to do so. Therefore, we all back him one hundred percent and realise he may have a few slip ups during that time but the debate is over. He is our keeper and that is that!

Disagree LIW.. I was totally assure when he came for crosses.. didn’t feel the need to tense up like when Kiko plays.

He was better with his feet vs arsenal though. Decent game in total

me too, he was obviously nervous but took all in his stride, will be a great keeper for us

Distribution could have been better but he was in the right place and at the right time to collect/stop etc..

I thought, overall, he was assured and grew into the game. Like his more experienced colleagues I might add.

Did well wind should take a great deal of confidence from that.

No negatives from me.

Maybe the wind had something to do with his distribution today? It was only his kicking to be fair and it was only about three times I think. At no point did they put us in any danger.

Did he have baked beans before the match?

Nah, I've just watched it again - Meslier couldn't have saved that goal at Arsenal. Nelson scuffs, the ball is spinning away from Meslier whose momentum from the attempted stop prevents him from getting more than the briefest of touches. Didn't get one hand on it, let alone two. Jammy goal, definitely not the keeper's fault.
