SQUAD. DEPTH.

Martial hasn’t played wide left all season

I didn’t say wide left. Martial played inside left on Sunday.
Re: squad depth I agree but that wasn’t my question. How would they fit our first 11

He played left of a front 2. Not a role Grealish would play.

I think Grealish would be an excellent signing and could play on the left of a midfield 3 at times.

He wouldnt get into the first 11 every single week is the answer. And that's fine.

I think he would most weeks

I’d try get rid of Lingard and Pereira and bring in Grealish.

If we keep our current formation he could compete with Bruno for number 10 and Rashford for wide left.

We need quality options.

It’s rare we have our best XI fit for more than a week, so I’m sure he’d play a fair bit if we signed him.

Saying that, would he really get into our first choice XI?

Something like

DDG
AWB Lindelof/Bailly Maguire Shaw
McT Fred Pogba
Rashford Martial Bruno

And that’s without a new CF/Ighalo or a new RW (Sancho?)

Change formation

City signed Bernardo and Mahrez while they already had Sterling and Sane, they can’t all get in the first 11.

We need quality in the whole squad to begin to compete.

I’m already worried for the first injury Fernandes gets as we’re back to creating zero chances when that happens, and back to Martial being slated for poor movement etc because of it.

posted on 10/3/20

he can play in a lot of positions, but as an earlier poster said, we need depth. specially if we get into the CL.
Look at City how many TOP players do they have that can lay in those attacking and central positions? They rotate them. Just like we do but instead of lingard, you get Grealish.

That’s why I said “something like” Not necessarily on the left wing.
I just desperately want to see Pogba, Bruno, Rashford and Martial in the same team! They can interchange however the hell they like if it works.

Grealish would give us strength in depth that’s for sure

posted on 10/3/20

I see him sitting on the bench, if we replace Pogba with Grealish it will be worthy of prison time. We need to buy a proper player already at the top of his game who can compete at the highest level. Saul comes to mind for that deeper position in a pivot.

Grealish can deputise for Fernandes but then if this happens, we’re basically telling Gomes to do one.

Short answer is, we don’t need him.

This is realistically what would happen. It’s be those three after two positions or, possibly:

Grealish—Fernandes—Rashford

—————Martial

posted on 10/3/20

It depends on the price and whether he’d be happy competing for a place in his favoured position.

He could go to Chelsea or Arsenal and start for them every game as they don’t have a left winger or attacking midfielder of the same quality as Grealish, we already do in Rashford Bruno.

Gomes can do one. The size, composure and awareness Grealish displays, Gomes is 3 to 4 years from it.

Grealish is a must buy. Especially if we are most likely getting rid of Pogba. We effing play Mata, Lingard and Pereira to rest Bruno in the cups. Those 3 should be gone. Grealish' versatility makes him an immediate necessity ahead of the likes of Sancho (who I think is way too expensive with marginal production above the average)

Missing out on him would be as big a mistake as missing out on Hazard.

I dont know whether now is the time to sell up on De Gea and cash in. Henderson looks ready.
Id buy a better CB to partner Harry, and a better CF than Martial. And thats in addition to landing Grealish and Sancho.
Unrealistic to sign all of that but the team would look like

De Gea/ Henderson

AWB New CB Harry Luke/Brandon

McTom Grealish

Sancho Bruno Rashford

New CF

So id sell
De Gea
Pogba
Lingard
Jones
Martial

Love that people are complaining at the thought of us having top quality squad options.

City bench the likes of the Silvas, Jesus, Gundagon etc every week

Sancho has “marginal production above the average”? What?!

Go have a look at his numbers. He’s got *29* goals and assists in 21 Bundesliga starts this season. There isn’t a teenager anywhere in the world close to him in terms of productivity. He’s already broken all kinds of records.

I’m not the biggest advocate of us spending our entire transfer budget and entire summer focussed on prising him away from Dortmund. But he’s on a different level this kid.

That side would be taken apart by most half decent PL teams. Grealish in the double pivot?

I think it’s more an issue of priorities, Busby.

If we had £250m to spend and a negotiating team that could get five deals over the line this summer, then fine, absolutely.

But we won’t spend that much, and it’s more important we get deals done to improve the first XI than it is stocking up with talent to fill the bench. That can come down the line.

Why does everybody include Harry in their teams.
Id ship him out at the same time as Andreas and lingard.
Overpriced, overrated and a bang average defender.
The amount of times this guy smashed the ball out of play against city, and many other teams this season infuriates the hell out of me.
No PL player should be that bad at long passing, bringing pressure back onto their team.
