I'd be gutted if the season finished now we've found some good form. I think we have a good chance in both cups and, in a strange way, our rest of the season is potentially far more exciting than Liverpool's.

As much as I don't want them to win the league I have accepted them as the best side in the PL months ago so I just want things to get back to normal asap. Also, from a selfish point of view, I don't want my holiday in July cancelled!

You’ll probably have your holiday cancelled and Liverpool will win the league.

I had to read that just before going to bed too. Going to have nightmares now!

Tbh I think in a month or so the last thing anyone will be thinking about will be football. I don’t think it’s quite struck people just how facked we all are. Not even just the virus risks but the fallout domino effect. Widespread looting, crimes happening with no police callout, people not being able to pay bills because of missing work, small businesses going bust, people who rent homes being kicked out... then scarier things like mass graves and mass pyres as well as the PTSD of so many people who lost so much so quickly

That’s because you underestimate just how facking hilarious it would be if the coronavirus stopped Liverpool winning the league.

It would be funnier than the first time I heard the Parrot Sketch.

A sensible answer. I really dont understand this notion that a couple earlier stated that they would essentially rather see their own team (united) suffer by being stuck in the europa again next year with no outcome on the cups they are still in this season as it means liverpool wont win the league. That is really quite sad.

Im 33 years old, ive seen some shocking liverpool sides in my time but never ever would i have swapped for example us winning the treble in 2001 or the even the league cup in 2003 just to take a league title off united the same season. Surely it has to be about your own clubs success 1st and foremost

Mellor. Even though I gave a sensible answer above Dazza is right in that it would be funny if what he says came to pass.

It would be funnier if they’d already won the league and had the trophy presented and all the celebrating happened and then it was stricken from the record books two weeks later

In 100 years people would talk about the ghost season and no one would believe them

But in times of despair people come together for a common belief. Liverpool losing the title because of the virus would be one such thing.

Not too far from reality imo

I think it’s a given that looting will happen. It always does - and the economy will tank and people who live pay check to pay check will suffer from a lack of job security - people in the gig economy are absolutely facked.

As for mass graves, it’s very possible that will happen. With the predicted death tolls, there just isn’t enough morgues and funeral homes that can handle that volume in a short space of time.

Again both them comments just reinforce my point. You would rather have a laugh at another team despite the fact it will potentially set your own team back by the fact it would mean your in the europa next year with spurs and chelsea back in the champs league gaining all the extra revenue that comes with it and the ability to attract a higher calibre of player.

Surely thats the bigger picture than having a laugh at another team. But each to their own, as someone above has said its probably not that important anyway in the grand scheme of things.

If the season doesn't get completed it'll be a legal minefield whatever the PL decide to do. We could even see a scenario where United actively try to help LFC get the PL by arguing this season's positions should be used to declare champions and CL places

Nobody actually knows how long the risk is going to remain.

It could well last into the summer. Potentially we could be completing this season before Christmas with the players having a long Christmas break. Then you could have the PL going abroad to have some show case events in the new year and you could hold the euros next year in spring with another extra long break for players after. You could even start the 21/22 season early because of the Qatar World Cup.

It’s not end of days - but even if 1% of the population dies (very possible) there probably will be mass graves - it’s already happening in Iran

No that’s not why I asked at all. It’s just that it’s a very English, or British, attitude to revel on someone else’s glorious, and hilarious, failure. So I wondered whether you were from abroad as it may explain why you don’t get why people would find this scenario so brilliant.
