The governments strategy is incompetence. They don’t understand the virus yet are happy to infect most of the population.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The Government is aching on the advice being given to them by the Scientists and Doctors who are qualified to make recommendations.

After a month of living in denial Trump has finally acted over here.

The doctors could make recommendations and give advice however it's the government that decide what action they want to take.

It's not a far fetched probability that the government has a preferred set of outcomes and the experts detail their advice as to how to achieve those.

Maybe the tories want to frog march all the foreigners to dover and push them off the cliffs?

I don't quite know what outcomes they would desire bar killing off all the pensioners to save on the pay outs but most of these are the people who vote tory so that makes no sense either.

any other ideas what the faff boris is doing?

Anyone thinking the government have implemented all the advice the scientists and doctors have given, verbatim, is naive in the extreme.

Exactly. I would go as far as not even trusting some of these experts as well. Some of them are most probably on the government’s ‘payroll’ as well.

The amount of christmas babies this is going to create is unreal.

millions of lives ruined by having their birthday and christmas too close together to get good prezzies.

What good is closing bars and restaurants while the mass transit systems are still operating?

Imagine what could happen if just 1 infected person covers his mouth with his hand while sneezing or coughing then travels on say 3 trains to get to work in the rush hour.

Any surface he touches will become contaminated and will be touched by hundreds of people in the next couple of hours.

Can you see many of these people using hand sanitiser every time they touch any surface in the underground system?

How about escalator hand rails, lift buttons, hand rails on trains?

What about busses, or even taxi cabs?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly my thoughts.
London underground is dirty as it is.

As someone who works in bars and restaurants I can’t see it! Whilst other industries close and people work from home, all I see is bars posting on social media about staff washing their hands 😂

Truly fecked though, people are losing hours, ours have all been cut back to basic contracted, even know someone where the owner has tried to move them all to zero hour contracts. Definitely an argument for a basic income.

Same industry for me. I’m contracted so am okish. Only 2 days next week for some zero hours contracts with big events cancelling later in the month and into next.

Still doesn’t change if one person comes in with it without symptoms it means time off on fook all money.

Aye I’ve got a lad who’s got no symptoms, self isolation due to his housemate having symptoms. But he wants to come in because he’s missing out on 19 hours over the weekend. Really feel for some workers, loads in London seem like their truly fecked and I think something is going to have to give RE bills? The thought of missing out on paying rent is worrying more of my team than getting ill.

We’ve done 6k on drink alone though already today. I reckon another 15 slapped on top of that by close. No owners (or very very few) will voluntarily pull the plug while people are still spending money.

Well it’s a very serious situation, I’ve never known anything like it, and they are predicting it could go on for a year yet.

Worrying times.

My job may be a bit dull at times but I’m so grateful not to be in a role that’s immediately and adversely affected. These are dark days for everyone so potentially losing your job is awful.

To answer the OP, surely everything counts a little. I understand, to an extent, the logic behind not locking everything down, but it’s still surely a good thing if lots of events are being postponed and people are taking the decision to cut down their socialising etc.

Every one person who doesn’t get it also doesn’t spread it to anyone else, who then doesn’t spread it etc... I can understand bars, nightclubs and cafes etc staying open, but I shall not be frequenting any for a while now.

Spend it in the small independents is all I’d say. Those places often rely on a good Saturday to pay the staff 👍

Nobody here seems to be too arrsed

Some of the bars and restaurants aren’t opening for the season yet, but everyone seems to be enjoying the extra holiday!

Most people will probably be thinking it’ll be nice to get a bit of a break from the tourists, quiet beaches and empty waves

I just find it funny that I have to go to work monday but I don't supply a vital service but footballers get to have a nice break in their mansions.

I get to risk getting or bringing home this virus in order to keep the roof over head but can't have a bit of entertainment on tv at the weekend with 22 grown men kicking an artifical pigs bladder round a grass park.

Odd really.

The point is we are taking precautions to protect the old, infirm and sick. its quite odd that a bunch of fit millionaires can run about for 90minutes to entertain those folks.

but there you go. It's all about over reaction and buying up all the toilet roll on the planet in one fell swoop.

if it continues that long in the current panic it will bust a lot of businesses.

There won't be an airline left, a car dealership open and greta thundercaaant will be very happy.

Seriously, how many bars, restaurants and high street retailers can survive 3 moths of the panic never mind a year.

There won’t be any car dealerships. But we will have a planet to live on at least. Silver linings and that...
