Great news that the numbers in Italy have fallen for three consecutive days.

posted on 25/3/20

Numbers are starting to rise quite rapidly here, over 200 now, gone up 100 in 2 days. Vast majority are still from returning travellers from overseas. Still, as of midnight tonight we are in a full lockdown for 4 weeks minimum and a state of emergency has been declared. Our Jacinda isn't messing about with this, and I applaud her for it.

Spain has now over taken China's total...

And we are going to get more cases and more deaths each day for the next two weeks at least. But Italy shows that we will hit a peak and get over it. How it plays after that we don’t yet know, but in the dark days coming, especially in London, we need to focus on the fact that it WILL get better. Follow the rules, do your best to keep fit, keep in contact with anyone you can. It won’t last forever.

Summoning the combined spirit of the Blitz and those dark days of 2008.

Well managed another successful circumnavigation of the sun today. Hope I can manage another one next year. Have my groceries and medicines for the near future.

This virus seems very unpredictable, just read that a British diplomat only 37 has died from it. The infection rate in Doncaster is still very low, only 13 cases confirmed out of a population of 310,000 but one fatality already. Living in a place nobody wants to visit has its advantages.

Do you think your presence there might have anything to do with it, Spart? Happy birthday by the way.

It could be although I think it's because my ex lives in Doncaster and there isn't a virus brave enough to go near her. Thanks for your birthday wishes.

Happy birthday, Spart. Wishing you good health until the next one

Just reading that Johnson has turned down the EUs invitation to purchase vital medical and ppe equipment, using the EUs massive buying power. Now that is truly stupid and worrying. I don't think any hard line Brexiter would object to that offer.

Channel five, 10 o’clock, just for Spart on his birthday. “The Great British Urine Test”. Quite literally, they are taking the pi55.

310,000 in Donny? You're off your head man. I used to live there. It's only about half the size of Derby.

Eh up Spart, happy birthday. At least you can turn off the central heating when you light the candles.

Happy birthday Spart, are you 69 now or are you doing like a pal of mine, who started losing the odd year?

Sorry I might be a day late.

The Doncaster Metropolitan area includes the Dearne and Don Valley old mining towns as well as the town which isn't that big. It's like if Derby had Heanor, Ilkeston, Ripley, Belper and Alfreton included in the population.

Only 68, VC, two weeks ago I was becoming doubtful that I would see it. Now fully recovered.

Owd Charlie and Camillla getting preferential treatment, who'd a thunk it?

I am staunchly antimonarchist but I wish them well Scouse. They aren't as bad as the world's megarich who have all fled to their bolt holes on private islands or bunkers taking their private physicians with them.

I have nothing against them personally either Spart, but why can't front line NHS staff get the same treatment?

The most egregious policy so far has been the banks asking small businesses to use their main homes as security for loans to help them through the Covid 19 crisis. Look at how we bailed out the banks to help them through a crisis of their own making. They have no shame.

The government is still issuing strongly advise you don't travel to certain countries not outright bans. This means that insurance companies can get out of paying. Wish they would make it more clear.
