say you shut down for 2 weeks, and it works bang, its gone, then what? someone flies in or out and brings it in from somewhere else and we're back at square one?

Parents still have to work. Who will look after the kids. It will be the grandparents.

i guess it could be valuable time to slow it down allow the nhs to get set up properly or w.e. But if a country gets rid of it then opens up borders to countries that havent itll just come back.

Yeah. This is basically the logic behind the UK government's actions. Essentially they are waiting for a number of people to have had the virus and gained immunity before beginning to take more drastic measures.

May or may not work. But it makes sense IMO.

No. Schools close on a whim at the best of times, people who work and have with kids are hit really hard by them facking about, though in this case it may get to the point that that’s a good idea.

The Irish are just work shy

Boris thinks he’s Churchill and genuinely doesn’t really care if a bunch of old people he’s never met before just so he can be thought of as this leader who stood up to the virus and didn’t ‘panic’.

China went into lockdown (sorry RBW) and now have gone past the peak. We’re lagging behind their example. The whole herd immunity thing is scandalous really as it is just another way of saying ‘the strong will survive’.

Nhs is not prepared at all. Delaying it is key. Most don’t have equipment or the PPE to protect staff. They need to delay this now!! Otherwise the nhs will be overwhelemed. The government has been a joke

I was chatting about the potential of the school shutting down to a few other parents when picking up my 8 year old lad on Friday. We agreed that if it was announced over the weekend that there was no school for x number of weeks we'd meet up at our local park on Monday (weather permitting). Theres an adventure playground and skate park .....etc.

Kids are like dogs they need a run out everyday so best keep the schools open as otherwise they are only going to congregate elsewhere defeating the object of the exercise.

I just got a call from my boss saying we have to WFH tomorrow. The complete lack of any direction from the government down to companies is my main concern. Basically, nobody has a clue what to do.

Heard immunity ploy may not work and the virus could mutate and they don’t understand or control how the virus behaves. So it’s a dangerous strategy and smells of a lack of decisive decision making.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well i heard it mutates slowly, a lot slower than the flu for example meaning once you've had it your bodies had enough time to figure out immunity.

The plan is basically just trying to get to summer. You guys better pray it gets here soon.

Yes, I think schools , restaurants, pubs, cinemas, non essential shops should all be closed. The worst case scenario is frightening, it needs serious measures now.

Government is barely testing people now - that way the figures aren’t high and they don’t need to be held account for rapidly rising figures as with no accurate figures the government can’t be blamed for not doing enough

You ever tried keeping an 8 year old lad under house arrest for a few weeks?

It isn't gonna happen.

Schools are closed over here in Massachusetts. Already seeing the neighborhood self isolate. weemanfrombelmonty hasn’t been out to play with the neighbor kids. Families want to keep everyone apart for the moment. The weather is beautiful, there’s no one about. The Town has requested that no one use the playgrounds. Place is like a ghost town
