A couple of weeks back I heard schools described as giant petri dishes for this virus to grow and spread
There are about 500,000 thousand teachers in the UK

Schools were shut here before there was even a single death, and ordered to stay closed for an initial minimum of a month. They’ve closed just about everywhere.
It’s absolutely mental that they’re still open in the UK. Mental. I think in retrospect it’s going to look like a very, very bad decision.

I wonder how many of the people calling for the schools to close have got kids of a primary school age? My 8 year old is a proper football and scooter lad he won't take kindly to being put under house arrest.

Plenty have kids. Those issues can be mitigated somewhat if one parent can spend time and play with them and also get them to study (make a schedule). I'm sure your kid would be smart enough to understand the situation if you explain it to him.
This has been a wonderful read.

For this to even hit 1% of our population requires an insane shift to go against every grain and aspect of the virus. We are not even at 0.001%. How can you justify a lockdown and extreme measures ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I ask you again, what is the % of the population that has been tested?
Do you understand why this is important?

Why is every country out there including, 3rd world ones, have their border control checking passengers for potential virus symptoms and asking them questions on where they’ve been but our airports aren’t giving a feck?
Replace him with Bruno Fernandes and he'll fix this country up

Who gives a fack. I have 3 under 8 and will be on my own with them as my Mrs will be front line NHS. The schools should be closed immediately.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Talking to other parents over recent days they very much give a fack.
Many (especially single parents) are terrified that they will have extra child care duties that will prevent them from working and will be unable to pay bills and put food on their families table.
Not everybody can work from home or has thousands put aside to fall back on.
Those calling for the schools to be closed are pompous and thoughtless.
