Is there any point in the weatherman delivering any weather just now. Nobody is allowed to leave their home

Also, will our electricity grid cope with the extra demand that's undoubtedly going to be placed upon it with everyone working from home, and potentially lots of people laid off sitting at home and using electricity.

Interesting times.

Will be balanced out by the electricity not being used in workplaces.

Also spring/summer = more daylight hours.

People tend to use more electricity when at home as opposed to at work in an office etc.

And demand can spike at random times due to unstructured breaks which makes it harder to meet that demand.

Just thinking of the practical engineering application of supplying extra energy over extended periods of time.

Heating alone will use far more power if it's thousands of individual domestic dwellings, as opposed to office blocks that run more efficient systems.

Fair points but they have suspended utility bills in Italy and everyone is at home. Seems to be working out ok.

Industrial decline would negate supply issues.
Closed doors fitba with sound effects. Hurry up!

The frustration is that BCD 'could' have been being played right now whilst people are still going to their work. If we are to become as rampant as Italy etc. then agreed it is a non-starter going forward.

The sooner this is realised and decisions made the better. There's zero chance Serie A starting in May with officials discussing extending the shutdown beyond April.

More worrying....

In France, the number of confirmed cases grew by more than 16% on Tuesday, reaching 7,730, while the death toll rose to 175, with 7% of the dead aged under 65.
