Its a joke, our ancestors stopped the Germans for this?

Idiots just need to stop panic buying.

That has calmed down a bit here thankfully but it is due to new measures such as only 150 allowed in the supermarket and folk only allowed to buy a maximum of 2 of most items.

Government need to clamp down on price rises. They need to step in, and say this is a national emergency, and any severe price rises will be met with immediate fines.

My poor Granny is 78, frail, suffering from severe emphysema, lost her husband on Christmas Eve, lives lone in the aaarrrrse end of nowhere in Lincolnshire, and we're really struggling to get groceries to her due to selfish baaaastards ransacking supermarkets.

Luckily she's just sold her house and had an offer accepted on a flat to move back down south with us.

Most shops have introduced 8-9am for elderly only. Also people seem to have come to their senses now and stopped the craziness. Probably due to having to through their food out at the end of the week.

Not so sure about that, the queue outside my local Sainsbury's this morning was about a quarter of a mile long. I would say only 70% max were elderly. Totally selfish behaviour.

Should be a lock down around London, people escaping to the countryside and coast and taking the virus with them, dont have the same medical facilities outside London, also they are coming into the home counties to shop now, and taking car loads of food back to London Lockdown the capital now

There are some selfish baaastards out there

But what I’ve found is that if you go to smaller stores you often find things you can’t get in the larger supermarkets

I do think rationing is a good idea though, but not sure how it would work practically. It’s not as if we can all queue at ration stations is it, with the virus around

Rationing worked perfectly well during the war. Meagre provisions, but all the same, everybody got the same. Rationing was still in force when I was born, and for the first six years of my life, rationing was still going on.

Jesus.

I thought they'd all calmed down. I went to M&S on Saturday, after all the crazy selfish people had left and the shelves been restacked and went about my shopping as normal with the normal people. Also went last night and it was completely normal.

Perhaps avoid in the mornings?

Deliveries are being slowed down due to drivers going through more checks and the like.

Also there has been a significant decrease in the number of available drivers and people to stock. We've just been given a 50% increase in road haulage costs.

It will be the internet going down.

I dont think the country needs rationing. It needs more control over who is allowed into supermarkets when and how much they can buy.

Which should have been implemented a fortnight ago really.

The supermarkets themselves should have taken control of this but instead in their rush for greed they've allowed things to get to this stage.

A colleague of mine whose wife works high up in retail claimed this morning that at Christmas they move circa 1.2m lines as an average. It's over 5m currently.

They've massively ramped up profits on volume and quietly removed offers that had been in place for months on end. Have they passed on anything to suppliers? Have they fwck. The message is if you don't supply; we won't be trading with you in the future.

Sheer unadulterated greed.
