Also in regards to CL, we made the final again against Milan in 2007 and completely outplayed them but lost. They got their own back.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree. I watched both finals, I wouldnt say you outplayed them in 2007 but you played better but Istanbul was a total fraek show. Its crazy Ancelotti didnt kill himself after that. A purely weird sequence of events.
But thats football. Similar to how Atletico came to Anfield and won in extratime. European football does that. In europe teams dont lie down and die like in the domestic league

Unlucky may not be the right word, spurs are most certainly the biggest underachievers of the pl era and there is no getting around it. Maybe everton challenging them.
Even without spending tonnes of money they "fell upon" or "unearthed" gems like harry kane, dele alli, rose and walker. They bought upcoming talent like alderweireld and vertonghen, had genuine class in modric and bale. Spent big on players too and had a world cup winning goalkeeper. With all that other a 4-5 year period they never seemed to get over the line, in a time where imo, the league has been at its weakest period since around 1996.
Chelsea won the league twice the last 5 or so years with very average sides, leicester also won the league and it has only been the last year or two liverpool and city have taken it to the next level.
Not sure luck plays a part, but spurs missed a fantastic opportunity and spurned several chances.

We definitely outplayed them. If we can say they outplayed us in the first game we can without doubt say we outplayed them in the second. They had five shots to our twelve and numerous last ditch blocks. We missed chances we should have scored with and their first goal came from an extremely fortuitous freekick which deflected onto one of their players on the upper arm, whilst the keeper was diving the other way.
We also looked threatening everytime we went forward but the defended deep and countered. I remember being completely confused how we lost the game.
This was like the Atletico game as you say.

Pirlo hit a freekick and it hit off Inzaghi's upper arm, deflecting in as Reina dived the other way to save the freekick. This came completely against the run of play, in first half injury time.
They sat back and countered as Liverpool attacked most of the game, Gerrard missing the best chance when through one on one with Dida. Eventually they scored a second on the counter from a Kaka throughball, who had until then been unable to exert any influence on the game due to being dominated by Gerrard, Mascherano and Alonso.
Our issues in the game were clear, so we went and bought Torres.
Just watched the first half highlights. Liverpool didn't have a clear chance on goal, maybe pennants that was very very wide, and a kuyt blocked shot. The rest were from outside the area.
Toor seems to be grossly over exagerrating here unfortunately. Milan even had nearly 60% possession first half. Going to watch the second half now.
start of second half kaka one on one with the keeper, near certain goal and was flagged incorrectly offside.
1 Dida
31 Jaap Stam
13 Alessandro Nesta
3 Paolo Maldini 1'
2 Cafu
8 Gennaro Gattuso
21 Andrea Pirlo
20 Clarence Seedorf
22 Kaká
11 Hernán Crespo
7 Andriy Shevchenko

As I said come back to me when you've watched it as you're talking out of your ass, which is understandable considering you haven't watched it.
You'll then see that Milan sat back and countered whilst Liverpool attacked, they scored a lucky goal from a freekick and then another on the counter. Gerrard missed a great chance and others missed chances. There were prolonged exchanges in their box with great last ditch blocks.
I remember the game clearly, I was in shock at the end of it but not too disappointed as I felt we did enough to win the game and were just unlucky.
Aside from maybe Gerrard's slip, I can't define either Liverpool or Spurs as unlucky. Their performances were within their own control.
Now having your new striker that might have saved you from relegation die in a plane crash at the end of the transfer window... that's what bad luck really is.
Plus a special mention for Burnley, who get stonewall penalty after stonewall penalty turned down season after season.
Sheffield United getting relegated at West Ham's expense, after WHU benefited from the not so legal transfers of Masch and Tevez.
